The 2007 Acura TSX is one of the best values on the market when it comes to entry-level luxury sport sedans. While other import brands may carry more cachet, it's hard to beat the TSX's attractive interior, high-end features and enjoyable driving dynamics.

The 2007 Acura TSX is the brand's entry-level sedan. As such, it's aimed at buyers who grew up with the boom of the sport compact scene and were raised on Japanese cars but now need a more functional and roomier vehicle to match their changing lives.

Based on the European market Honda Accord, the TSX went through a slight refreshing last year, with a small bump in horsepower from 200 to 205, minor exterior revisions, a hands-free cell phone wireless interface and an auxiliary media jack. Some potential buyers might be surprised to learn that the 2007 Acura TSX still comes with a four-cylinder engine only. This is a luxury-branded car, and even the Accord can be had with a V6, right? But from Acura's standpoint, the four-cylinder has advantages in weight reduction and price while still making competitive amounts of power.

The TSX mainly competes with lower-end versions of the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series, as well as the Lexus IS 250 and Volvo S40. Frankly, we think this car is just a blast to drive, even with its minor shortcomings in engine power. Overall, it's worth strong consideration.

The 2007 Acura TSX entry-level sports sedan seats five and comes in only one trim level. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon HID headlights, leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, power accessories, a power driver seat and a premium sound system. The only factory option is a navigation system, which is simple to use, intuitive and recognized as one of the best in the industry.

The entry-level luxury sedan comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 205 hp and 164 pound-feet of torque. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic with Sequential Sportshift. Fuel economy is impressive: TSX rates 22 city/30 highway with the manual, and 22 city/31 highway with the automatic.

The 2007 Acura TSX boasts a long list of standard safety equipment including four-wheel antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control, side airbags for front passengers, front and rear side-curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system. In frontal-offset crash testing conducted by the IIHS, the TSX received a "Good" rating, the highest possible, and an "Acceptable" rating in side-impact testing. In NHTSA testing, the TSX earned a perfect five-star rating on all counts except for rear side impacts, where it received four stars.

The TSX is sophisticated and super fun, like a sports coupe in a tuxedo. While the four-cylinder engine is a tad underpowered and seriously lacking torque, once you get it revved up, it really delivers. We love the six-speed manual transmission as it makes you feel like a pro driver with its short, precise shifts. Amazingly, we can't complain much about the automatic either. Handling is sharp, the steering is quick, the sports-tuned suspension reduces body roll and the car feels solid and safe. During less spirited driving, the TSX makes good on its promise as a luxury brand and provides a solid, compliant ride that always feels just right.

Inside, the 2007 Acura TSX offers an attractive, upscale interior that is very contemporary. The gauges are brightly lit and easy to read, the leather seats are comfy and supportive and rear legroom is surprisingly spacious. Although TSX claims to seat five, read between the lines and know that a fifth passenger will suffer in the center seat.

The TSX is powered by a 2.4-liter 16-valve engine producing 205 horsepower. You have your choice of either a six-speed manual or five-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission. Though quick, the TSX lacks the "pit of your stomach" punch only a six- or eight-cylinder engine can provide. You'll observe this when accelerating from a dead stop or when attempting a high-speed passing maneuver. Driving the TSX with the six-speed manual is a pure joy. The car is so well balanced that it almost seems to slice through curves like a knife through whipped butter. The front-wheel-drive layout works well for the TSX, providing excellent traction while being nearly devoid of torque steer. Acura has equipped the TSX with a complex stability and traction control system known as Vehicle Stability Assist, or VSA. It's a nice feature that will provide you with peace of mind as you have fun with the TSX's nimble suspension.

Voice-Activated NavigationAcura's voice-activated navigation is one of the best in the industry. Not only is it relatively simple to operate, you can vocally ask it to find landmarks, restaurants or gas stations.Side-Mirror Turn SignalsAcura places the turn signals in the side mirrors. This allows traffic beside you to recognize your intent to change lanes.

Here is where the magic begins. The TSX's interior is clad in the finest materials, far superior to anything in its price range. Every switch moves as though Teflon-coated and every seam lines up precisely. The seats are wonderfully comfortable and supportive for sporty drives, the dash is handsomely adorned with wood or aluminum and soft-touch vinyl and the instrument panel puts on its own light show once the sun sets; it's all truly a work of art.

Though some complain the TSX is rather basic in its execution, we think its sharp lines and clean appearance will stand the test of time better than some of the more trendy designs currently on the market. Build quality is beyond reproach, and the car is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile warranty.

The TSX comes nicely equipped and includes a choice of six-speed manual transmission or five-speed SportShift automatic, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control, Vehicle Stability Assist, 17-inch wheels, heated leather power seats (eight-way for driver, four-way for the passenger), power moonroof, automatic climate control, 360-watt Bose audio with in-dash six-disc changer, steering wheel-mounted controls for cruise and audio, front side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags, xenon headlamps, fog lights, XM Satellite Radio, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror and remote entry.

The only option is the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition.

The Acura 2.4-liter engine is marvelously silent and smooth. It delivers plenty of punch, though you'll have to rev it until the tachometer needle is well past the 3,000-rpm mark to make the most of the engine's power and torque.2.4-liter in-line 4205 horsepower @ 7000 rpm164 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4500 rpmEPA city/highway fuel economy: 22/30 (manual), 22/31 (automatic)

The TSX has a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $ 28,760. When equipped with an automatic transmission and navigation the price rises to $ 30,760. Even at MSRP, the TSX represents a great deal. To see the typical transaction prices others in your area are paying for the TSX, be sure to check out the Fair Purchase Price. Owners will find much to like about the TSX's strong resale values, too. We estimate the TSX will retain nearly 67 percent of its value at 24 months and 55 percent at 48 months. That's higher than the Audi A4 2.0T, Volvo S40, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Cadillac CTS.

Acura TSX Overview and History

Acura introduced the first generation TSX during the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Japanese  seem to have all the traits of engineering-passionate mythical phoenix birds descendants. After having risen from the ashes of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Second World War nuclear bombings, the island dwellers leaped into a full-scale both intrinsic and outer reconstruction process that would later catapult them as a leading force on the international auto-market. 1986 was the year when Japanese engineers unleashed their newly formed Acura division of 4 wheeled katanas against the frail armies of western technology.

Soon after the attack was initiated, early models of Acura vehicles quickly took over vast US car market shares on the road to victory. The spark triggered a mass techno-religious conversion among car buyers who quickly turned to the new Eastern alternatives - who have accurately hit the niche American builders had failed to fill: the luxury market.

Acura was born as the rich child of the elder Honda father-brand and quickly became the driving force that would change customers' perception of Asian motorized artisanship. The package Acura delivered to the US after Honda had spent 10 ears of research consisted of only two models: the Legend and the Integra. The road-runner pair had enough success overseas to compel competing Asian brands into sending their own troops to the US. Thus, Toyota sent a wave of hostile novelty and improvements with their newly created luxurious Lexus brigade and Nissan joined the party by flaunting a new shiny infant-brand, the Infiniti.

Although Acura had already managed to integrate the legend of better Asian automobiles into US consumer minds through the V6-powered Legend sedan and the sleek, sharp Integra, it was yet to display all of its arsenal. As soon as the 90's came, four years after the brand had reached American territory, it delivered a crushing blow to luxurious-sports car competitors: the NSX. An acronym for  a science-fueled battle cry that translated as 'New Sports eXperimental', the NSX quickly became a cheaper and fun alternative to costly European counterparts such as the ones delivered by German and Italian manufacturers like BMW and road-cruising and racing supremacists Ferrari.

Not only did the NSX strike a weak spot, but it also garnered appreciation as being the first series car made entirely of aluminum. Despite its early success, Acura entered some mid 90's dark ages as a result of reported poor design choices and failure to rejuvenate the already existing line of models. By 1996, the Legend and Integra names were dropped and replaced with parsimonious alphanumeric tags as part of a new naming nomenclature that would drag the entire brand to a mild maelstrom of confusion. Subsequent model improvements and quasi-subtle Lexus design forgery plunged Acura into temporary platitude, despite its engine power upgrades to more than 200 hp on 1996's 3.5 RL - the reinvented Legend.

The knockdown effect would not last for long though, as the beginning of the 21st century brought Acura to a fresh start with the introduction of several redesigned models, such as the 1999 Acura 3.2 TL, engineered as a challenger against competition's wheeler-troopers, such as the Lexus ES, Infiniti l30 and the the BMW 3-series. Despite having failed to dominate its foes, the 3.2 earned much acclaim due to its consumer attractiveness that was the result of a balanced blend of luxury, sportiness and competitive pricing.

In a matter of years, Acura took on SUV territory with the MDX and continued to sustain the rise of its machines with new accomplishments and faster, better units at the exiting factory gates. In fact, Acura is currently leading a full-scale take-over, with the brand having reached Chinese markets only two years ago and plans for breaking into the former USSR compound by the end of 2008.

2007 Acura TSX Consumer Reviews

The TSX is perfect
The Acura TSX was, for lack of a better word, perfect in all respects. The price was very reasonable and the amount of standard features were amazing to say the least. I could not have bought a better car for a better price, simply put. The handling is a dream come true and in Bakersfield heated seats in the winter are a must. The duel climate control tailors itself to any temperature I desire. The powerful yet efficient 205 horse power engine provides the perfect balance of torque and fuel mileage. I would suggest the 07 Acura TSX to any one looking for a luxury car that outperforms bmw and mercedes with the price tag not much more than a honda accord.

Great Car, Great Value, Great Fun - TSX
I bought TSX a month ago to replace 02 Accord. From the number, the engine size increased from 2.3L to 2.4L, power and fun are a huge step up. The TSX displays a marvelous balance between smooth power delivery, sure footed handling, responsive steering, and luxury comfort. The TSX is great fun to drive. After I managed the SportShift mode, it's even more fun than before. Besides fun, it comes loaded with just about every feature standard. I like Xenon lights, bluetooth handsfree link, memory power leather seats, XM radio, sound system, and all interior design. Highly recommend this vehicle.

Happy TSX Owner
Best value for the price. Loaded with standard features that are optional on other cars in the same class. This car has an "understated elegance". I would highly recommend the TSX to anyone in the market for a new vehicle who wants subtle sportiness with luxury.

Awesome
Sold my 2k Celica and got an 07 TSX. Perfect transition. It's a bit larger with 4 doors, and has much more power. I actually use every feature it's got and it's awesome. I never need to take my phone out of my pocket or reach over for any controls. Everything can be controlled by either voice, steering wheel, or headunit. At first I thought the gearing was weird, but in the city it's perfect because you can do most of your driving in 3rd or 4th to reduce shifting. You don't need the iPod connector because it has an AUX jack standard. Seats heat up extremely fast.

"05 acura tsx"
Hi I am the original owner of this 2005 tsx. The style of this car still looks great. I have the Body skirt, Chrome wheels, and the back fin. It is hard to give up. The only thing I dont like is the turning radius is bad!

2004 Acura TSX
"Great small entry level luxury car"
Best car I have ever owned. At 168,000 mileage, it needs occasional repairs but that is to be expected. Take care of this car and it will keep going and going, just like the energizer bunny.

2006 Acura TSX
"Love this car - bought new and hard to let go."
I chose this car because it had the highest predicted value after 5 years. It did not disappoint. I also liked that there were two options - with navigation and without. It was one of the first to have Bluetooth handsfree calling which I consider a serious safety feature and now is rather standard (I bought mine 12/2006). The car required very little maintenance out of the ordinary and my cost own was very low. Low profile tires/wheels look nice, but were not friendly with pot hole roads in Michigan so I did have to replace two rims. Great car and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I have owned and still have a 2009 Kia amanti it is now 2024 I have 51000 miles on this car excellent handling in all weather except ice and deep snow very fast in traffic I think the handling is tight and responsive. My spouse has driven this on the interstate frequently and the first thing he did was get it up to 220 mph at this speed is floaty but under 80 mph just a pleasure to drive *****
