The new 3.3-liter base engine is lighter than the 3.5-liter it replaces, has more horsepower and torque -- and better fuel economy, too. It's a good base engine with enough get-up-and-go for the daily drive and carrying payload. It's not blazing fast, but it's easy to get to and stay at freeway speeds. The 2nd-gen 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6 has 25 lb-ft more torque, so it's even quicker off the line. Its combination of speed, efficiency and capability makes it our favorite of the lineup. With the 5.0-liter V8, acceleration is natural and linear. The 3.5-liter makes the F-150 fast when unloaded and a capable, stout hard worker. Towing is effortless. The F-150's SuperCrew cabin is roomy, offering excellent legroom and a comfortable ride. Suspension and brakes were designed so that whether the truck is loaded or unloaded, the ride doesn't suffer and brakes feel confident and strong.

2.7-LITER ECOBOOST ENGINE The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine has as much torque as the available 5.0-liter V8, has the best fuel economy of the gas engines, and has the power to tow up to 8,500 pounds, plenty for a boat or RV. It's the sweet spot in the lineup and the best-selling engine. TOWING-ASSIST SYSTEMS When parking a trailer, Pro Trailer Backup Assist allows the driver to input left or right commands via a knob, watching on a screen as the F-150 handles steering and braking. The Blind Spot Information System covers truck and trailer. The 360-degree camera eases the task of connecting a trailer.

The 2018 F-150's interior is rugged and attractive, but above all, it's easy to use. There are new interior colors for 2018, and plenty of available cool features like 3-prong power outlets, adaptive cruise control that can bring the truck to a full stop, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, active park assist, and the ability to have the Sync 3 infotainment system read text messages to you while you drive. The SuperCrew (crew cab) is extremely roomy, with rear-seat legroom that bests some full-size sedans. Because the F-150's floor is flat, even the dreaded middle rear seat is comfortable.

Ford's full-size pickup continues to use a military-grade aluminum body, but for 2018 that body has been restyled to emulate the looks of the big-brother Super Duty lineup. New grilles, headlights and wheel designs help differentiate the different trim levels. Aside from the truck's new look, much about the design was born from necessity. The tailgate is available with a pull-out step that makes it much easier to get into the bed to manage payload. There are also pop-out steps on the sides that help with the same purpose.

The base-model F-150 is a regular-cab, 2-wheel-drive (2WD) XL, which comes with enough standard equipment that makes it possible to buy a decent truck to get work done at a reasonable price. Even trucks equipped with the new 3.3-liter base engine and 6-speed automatic transmission come standard with auto start/stop, and all F-150s get the same ultra-strong hydroformed, fully boxed frame. Hill-start assist and Trailer Sway Control are standard, as are Curve Control, 17-inch wheels and air conditioning.

There are plenty of appealing upscale trim levels, including the King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. Available options make the interior luxury plush, such as heated leather front and rear seats (10-way-power, cooled and massaging front seats), Sync 3 and Bang & Olufsen Play or Sony audio systems. A variety of towing assist and safety systems are offered, as are adaptive cruise control and side steps that deploy when a door is opened and retract when the door closes. On the safety front, the 2018 Ford F-150 is offered with inflatable rear seatbelts and a blind-spot information system. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is available.

The 2018 Ford F-150 will be available with six engines, one of which is a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel set for release later in the model year. The new base engine is a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6 -- more powerful and more efficient than the engine it replaces -- and the only one in the line with a 6-speed automatic. The rest use a 10-speed automatic, including the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, now with 25 lb-ft more torque than last year and the best fuel economy of all the gas engines. The 5.0-liter V8 gains horsepower and torque, and both versions of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost remain unchanged. However, thanks to a new towing package and other changes, you can now tow up to 13,200 pounds with a 3.5-liter-equipped F-150.3.3-liter V6290 horsepower @ 6,500 rpm265 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpmEPA city/highway fuel economy: 19/25 mpg (2WD), 18/23 mpg (4WD)2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6325 horsepower @ 5,000 rpm400 lb-ft of torque @ 2,750 rpmEPA city/highway fuel economy: 20/26 mpg (2WD), 19/24 mpg (4WD)3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6375 horsepower @ 5,000 rpm470 lb-ft of torque @ 3,500 rpmEPA city/highway fuel economy: 18/25 mpg (2WD), 17/23 mpg (4WD)5.0-liter V8395 horsepower @ 5,750 rpm400 lb-ft of torque @ 4,500 rpmEPA city/high fuel economy: 17/23 mpg (2WD), 16/22 mpg (4WD)3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (Raptor)450 horsepower @ 5,000 rpm510 lb-ft of torque @ 3,500 rpmEPA city/highway fuel economy: 15/18 mpg

For 2018, the Ford F-150 Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price starts at just under $ 30,000 for a regular cab XL (all prices include $ 1,295 destination). XLT pricing begins at $ 34,265. The Lariat starts at nearly $ 42,000, which sounds like a bigger price jump than it actually is, because every model above the XLT comes as a SuperCab (extended cab) or larger, while the XL and XLT prices are for regular cabs. The Raptor begins at $ 51,080, the King Ranch at nearly $ 53,000 and the Platinum is $ 55,450. Pricing is comparable to trucks like the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado, but as is the case with many full-size trucks, F-150s can get pricey. The top-line Limited starts at $ 61,815 and with every option it can cost around $ 67,000. Ford F-150 Overview and History

Henry Ford started the company in 1902 with $ 28,000 in cash from twelve investors, among which were John and Horace Dodge, who would later found the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. He was 40 years when he first established the company's first factory on Bagley Street, Detroit.

He would later incorporate the firm on June 16, 1903. Ford Motor Company would go on and label their models chronologically in alfabetical order, starting with the Model A to the Model K and Model S, which was Ford's last right-hand steering vehicle. Then, in 1908 Ford introduced the Model T, which was designed by Childe Harold Wills and two Hungarian immigrants, Joseph A. Galamb and Eugene Farkas. This model proved to be of quintessential Ford vehicle, placing the company among the most influential automotive brands in history.

The Ford Model T was reliable, practical and affordable, which made it a big hit in the US, where it was advertised as the middle-class man's vehicle. The car's success compelled Ford to expand his business and layout the basics of mass production principles in 1913 with the introduction of the world's first vehicle assembly line. By 1912, production figures for the Model T alone reached nearly 200,000 units.

This organizational innovation brought in the vehicle construction field allowed Ford to reduce chassis assembly time by as much as 10 hours, dropping from 12 ½ h to 2h 40 min.

Besides ensuring the efficiency of the production process, Ford turned his company into an interactive entity by announcing a new profit-sharing policy. This would grant buyers a cut of profits if sales reached 300,000. As expected, sales effortlessly reached the 300k threshold and went even further to hit a record 501,000 in 1915.

As part of a new set of financial tactics, Ford provided working places for the disabled who otherwise had a hard time finding a job, reduced work shifts and doubled all employee's salaries. Changes like these sparked a tremendous sales increase while also setting the base of modern working conditions.

Still, the US and Canadian market would prove to be too small to fit Ford's plans. By the mid 20's, the Ford label had crossed the ocean and reached England, France, Germany, Denmark, Austria as well as distant Australia. The company's activity on European grounds further helped the brand's revenue growth.

War would not shake the Ford company as bad as other car makers. Post WWI improvements include the introduction of four-wheel brakes and a series of new vehicle releases to match new consumer demands. In 1922 Ford entered the luxury car segment with the acquisition of the Lincoln Motor Company, named after Abraham Lincoln whom Henry Ford admired.

Ford Motor Co. was one of the few big American corporations to survive the Great Depression, although the plummeting automotive sales led the company to scale down its operations and lay off many workers. In May 1929, Ford Motor Co. signed an agreement with the Soviet Union to provide technical assistance until 1938 to construct an integrated automobile-manufacturing plant at Nizhny Novgorod, in exchange for the Soviets purchasing $ 13 million worth of automobiles and parts. Under this agreement many American engineers and skilled auto workers went in 1932 to work on the Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (GAZ), or Gorki Automotive Plant. The few who remained in the Soviet Union after the completion of the plant fell victims to Stalin's Great Terror, ending either shot or exiled to Soviet gulags.

With the arrival of WWII Ford increased its influence on the global stage becoming an active player in the war effort, a thing underlined by US President Franklin Roosevelt referring to Detroit as the "Arsenal of Democracy." When the US War Department handed production of B-24 Liberator airplanes to Ford, the output rose to 20 airplanes per day instead of only one per day managed by the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation.

After WWII Ford continued its passenger vehicle operations and in 1955 introduced the iconic Thunderbird model. Then it introduced the Edsel brand in 1958, which proved to be a failure and was dissolved in 1960. Part Edsel's failure as an automotive brand resided in the onset of the 1957 recession in the States and the vehicle's high price tag.

Ford Motor Co. managed to get back up from its Edsel failure with the introduction of the Falcon model in 1960 and the Mustang in 1964. The company's next major step was represented by the formation of Ford Europe division in 1967.

Ford plunged into a state of brand-fatigue that would bring the company to the point of near bankruptcy. Following major sales losses in the 2000's, Ford was pinned against the wall by debts and the imminence of closing down.

Preferring to make it back on its own, Ford mortgaged all of its assets in 2006. As of then, the company has releases a variety of new models both under the Ford brand name and the rest of the sub-brands it owns such as fresher and edgier Mercuries and flashier Lincolns, Ford's luxury division. Business in Europe has also been good for Ford, especially after the introduction of the Focus model in 1997 and although it hasn't fully recovered, it's definitely on the way to regaining popularity.

"love the regular cab pickup"
The regular cab F150 XLT V8 FX4 is the truck I got. So far I love the truck if I could change some things it would be the fit and finish on the interior its not up to the price tag of these trucks if you pay 35000 for a truck it should be perfect I think. The only other issue is the 10 speed transmission in normal driving mode is doesn't shift smoothly if you use any other mode it seems much better especially sport mode the V8 is awesome. I dislike the auto stop/start ignition it doesn't save any gas what so ever. I disabled mine it was easy. I drove a Silverado regular cab and would have bought it but GM financing offers you rebates only to take them away with high interest rates and for the same money I got a more powerful V8 and better XLT FX4 package with navigation the Silverado was a work truck w/black out package no information system no NAV a bad stereo just a basic truck for the same money but it is a very good looking truck. The RAM sport regular cab would have been my first choice it had everything I wanted but I couldn't find new one within a 150 mile area the ford I got was in Maine about a 100 miles from where I live. The regular cabs are not popular especially the ones with options. In the end I'm happy with the F150 but I think any of the big three RAM Ford Chevrolet would be a good choice in the end it depends on the deal you can get from the dealers

"Rebuilding the transmission at 28,000 miles"
Great driving powerful comfortable truck with a junk transmission. The transmission started making a grinding noise at down shift when it only had 250 miles on it. It got progressively worse now it’s at the dealership being rebuilt. The starter is randomly making a grinding noise as well of course the dealer says nothing is wrong because they can’t make it do it. I hate a truck I can’t trust. The last two fords that I have owned were junk. I’m done with ford.
