1996 Cadillac DeVille Heating and AC Temperature and Air Delivery Mode Door Actuators May Fail

One or more heater & AC (HVAC) air delivery and/or temperature mode door actuator may fail. This can result in incorrect air delivery or temperature. If this occurs, fault code(s) stored in the HVAC control module should be available to assist with diagnoses.

    Driver's side AC is cold, passenger side is HOT. Yesterday it to shop, they added freon, drove it last night and hot air still blowing out passender side. This morning took it back to shop, apparently a small amount of freon had escaped, they refilled and added dye, I was told there may be a leak in compressor, to bring it back if same happened so they could check where dye indicated a leak. Now, from reading similar problems on forums, it sounds like acuator needs attention, not compressor.

    Air conditioning blowing up through dash vents right at the windshield and not through the correct A/C vents. Replaced mode actuator which fixed the problem. The mechanic was able to do the replacement without taking out the dash. When I took it in they said, the dash would have to be removed to do the work. This saved me a good amount of money with the time savings. 5/7/2012

    Blower working in floor and back seat, but not from the dash. Dealer had to remove dashboard to get to actuator.

    a/c failed to work...had it checked & the gear on the actuator motor that sends the air from the floor to dash vents was partially stripped causing it not to cool off the car...actuator motor was fine but the gear was not the dash had to come out and the bill was around $ 800.00for a $ 1.00 plastic gear
