Chrysler’s new 300 sedan can be summed up with a few choice words: “comfortable, quiet and powerful.” The 300 offers plenty of gusto, even from its standard V6 engine. The available 363-horsepower Hemi V8 delivers heart-stopping acceleration, its 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission is smooth and precise, and a Sport mode that tweaks the transmission’s shift points is standard on the 300S and 300C. Straight-line performance is outstanding, but on models other than the 300S and 300C, cornering is not the big and heavy Chrysler’s most admirable quality -- although it can easily outmaneuver a Toyota Avalon or Hyundai Azera. The additional thrust and exhaust rumble of the V8 are certainly desirable, but the best combination of performance, efficiency and price is the V6-powered 300S with a light smattering of optional equipment. And if you live in the land of snow and ice, all-wheel drive (AWD) is a worthwhile expense.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE Despite the growing popularity of all-wheel-drive sedans, it’s still not a very common feature in the full-size-sedan segment. It is available as an option on four of the five Chrysler 300 models for an additional $ 2,500. It’s also offered on the Buick LaCrosse, Dodge Charger and Ford Taurus. HEMI V8 Power Also unique in its class is the new Chrysler 300’s available Hemi V8, which is optional on the 300S and standard under the hood of the top 300C model. It’s the only V8 engine in the full-size family-sedan segment, competing with a long list of smaller less-powerful V6s.

Inside the 2018 Chrysler 300 you’re met with a mix of modern technology, traditional craftsmanship and the kind of expansive space you expect in a full-size American family sedan. The new Chrysler 300 seats five passengers in comfort. Rear-seat legroom is ample and the Chrysler’s heated and cooled front bucket seats are pampering. At over 16 cubic feet, the trunk is also large, and the rear seats fold flat for added flexibility. We’re also fans of the 300’s unusual rotary shift knob, its traditional analog clock, which adds a touch of class, and the large 8.4-inch touch screen that’s easy to reach.

With its hard lines, small greenhouse and wide stance, the new Chrysler 300 defines the look of American luxury sedans. It manages to be full country club, very CEO and a little bit gangster all at the same time. It’s a distinctive design and it continues to exude an aggressive elegance as it struts down the road. The more sporting 300S model has blacked-out elements. Chrysler offers Sport Appearance and Chrome Appearance packages on the entry-level 300 Touring model, both of which include 20-inch wheels. The top Hemi-powered 300C model gets Platinum Chrome on its grille and trim.

The base 300 Touring model includes dual-zone climate control, 8-way-power driver's seat, keyless entry, dash-mounted analog clock, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a split fold-down rear seat and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Entertainment is provided by a 6-speaker AM/FM/satellite radio with USB input and Bluetooth streaming. Higher trims come with rearview camera, panoramic sunroof, leather interior, heated and cooled front seats, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, navigation and power-operated rear sunshade. In addition to the 8.4-inch touch-screen display with Chrysler's easy-to-use Uconnect information and entertainment system, all models come with a snazzy 7-inch information display between the analog tachometer and speedometer.

Several packages and individual options are available on the new 2018 Chrysler 300. Among them are upgraded audio systems by Beats or harman/kardon. Optional safety and driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. Traction-enhancing all-wheel drive (AWD) is available across trims on V6 models in place of the standard rear-wheel drive (RWD). In addition to interior features and more aggressive exterior design cues, the sportier 300S and 300C models come with paddle shifters and performance-tuned suspension. The Limited trim is loaded with quilted Nappa leather seats, hand-sanded wood accents and 20-inch wheels.

The 2018 Chrysler 300 comes with the highly lauded 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 as standard across all four of its five trim levels. In 300S models it has slightly more power -- 300 horsepower -- while in the 300 Touring, 300 Touring L and 300 Limited it makes 292 horsepower. AWD is optional with this engine. Available on the 300S and standard on the 300C is a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine good for 363 horsepower. Both engines are connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 is rated up to 30 mpg highway, commendable for such a large car. The powerful V8 achieves a high of 25 mpg. Cars with either engine can run on regular unleaded, though mid-grade 89 octane is recommended for the V8.3.6-liter V6 292 horsepower @ 6,350 rpm 300 horsepower @ 6,350 rpm (300S) 260 lb-ft of torque @ 4,800 rpm 264 lb-ft of torque @ 4,800 rpm (300S) EPA city/highway fuel economy: 19/30 mpg (RWD), 18/27 mpg (AWD)5.7-liter V8 363 horsepower @ 5,200 rpm 394 lb-ft of torque @ 4,200 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 16/25 mpg

The 2018 Chrysler 300 has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting around $ 30,000 for the entry-level 300 Touring model. The sporty 300S starts around $ 36,500, the 300 Limited costs about $ 37,500 and the top-line Chrysler 300C begins at about $ 42,000. Adding AWD to V6 models is an additional $ 2,500 and the rear-drive-only Hemi V8 option is an extra $ 3,000 on the 300S. Fully loaded, a Chrysler 300 can hover near the $ 50,000 mark. At its starting price, a new Chrysler 300 costs about $ 1,000 more than a Ford Taurus and Chevrolet Impala, and several thousands less than the Toyota Avalon and Hyundai Azera. Before buying, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to see what others in your area are paying for their new Chrysler 300. On the resale front, the big Chrysler's value has traditionally not held up as well as those of the Avalon, Azera or Impala.

2018 Chrysler 300 Previous Generations

2018 Chrysler 300 Future Generations

Chrysler 300 Overview and History

In 2014, the Chrysler 300 got refreshed, being first unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show the same year, highlighting six decades of ambitious American ingenuity through iconic design proportions inspired by 1955 and 2005 models. The SRT8 version of the new Chrysler 300 was revealed at the 2011 New York Auto Show, equipped with the 6.4 392 Hemi engine used by other SRT vehicles. Thanks to 470 hp available low down in the rev range, the muscular sedan accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just over 4 seconds. The car is lower, angrier, equipped with a body kit and a sports exhaust. It rides on stiffer suspension and stops better thanks to Brembo's big brake kit.
In terms of genesis, Chrysler is almost synonymous with an unwanted premature detonation. Amidst the depression of 1921 and the great collapse of 1929, when most car producers were facing extinction due to drastic decrease in sales, lack of resources and investors, a small company would try to make its way to the auto shows and into the American citizens' garages. Despite the economic meltdown that drove investors away and locked-down companies faster than a second Ice Age, the US auto market was mainly divided among two powers: the ever expanding GM and Ford.

The sum of such horrific conditions would have normally drove away contenders, but Walter P. Chrysler thought otherwise. Determined to get an equally slice of the market share pizza for himself, he exhibited a handsome car at the 1924 New York Auto Show. The automobile was none other than the Chrysler 70, the model that would drag the Chrysler name to he Pantheon of American car builders.

However, Chrysler wasn't born as Chrysler (from the company's standpoint). Facing a rapid and possibly permanent dissolution, the two initial companies held by Walter P., Maxwell and Chambers, merged to form a new entity that would later rub shoulders with its competitors at the time. The 70 model had an instant success that allowed the newly formed corporation to expand freely, unabated by the competition's efforts and much wider rage of automobiles.

The Chambers name was dropped, whist Maxwell was re-branded as a Plymouth. By 1931, the Plymouth brand had already become a fierce competitor in the small car segment and was insistently knocking on Ford stronghold's door, yelling to make room or evict the place. Although Ford was basically partying due to the high sales registered by their model A, the more advanced Plymouth did far better. Sporting hydraulic brakes, more flowing body lines and  a “floating power”engine, the Plymouth cast an awfully large cloud of doubt over Ford's headquarters.

The improvements brought by the Plymouth became so popular that other producers started using them as well. Citroen would later use Chrysler's patented “floating engine” technology that had the great advantage of reducing engine vibrations through the use of three rubber mounts that separated the engine from having direct contact with the chassis.

Chrysler did so good the following years that by the end of the 30's it had already surpassed Ford and moved to a comfortable second position. Almost unknowingly, Chrysler became a titan. The time to wrestle the no. 1 car manufacturer was near and Chrysler carefully readied its match.

However, what was designed as a model of crushing beauty was not well received by the American public. The 1934 Airflow model, a gorgeous curvy sparkling beauty failed to make an impact and consequently sales dropped faster than CBS dropped “The Will”.

Funnily enough, the public was not touched by a car that was way ahead of its time, at least as far as the bodywork was concerned. However, poor sales were efficiently countered once Chrysler released the Imperial model. Large, powerful and luxurious, it was an instant hit and catered for the need of a stand-out motorized social status statement, as well as a reliable day to day ride.

As soon as World War II was over Chrysler had entered a sales numbness, focusing more on research and engineering improvements rather than holding the company's position as a top car industry leader. The post WW II days brought along some significant changes in auto design and shape, with a legendary tail fin craze initiated by Ford and GM.

In response to the existing trends, Chrysler's automobiles became longer and wider and sacrificed performance and reliability for looks. This happened because of a shift in the consumers' perspective who came to prefer style and exterior features over practicality and quality. The by know well established Chrysler products were removed to make way for a new range of flashy cars that failed to climb to the height of the precedent line-up. In doing so, Chrysler was pushed back to the third place once more.

By the beginning of the 60's, Chrysler made a comeback with the introduction of the spectacularly enduring, fast and well balanced 300-F. Though some drivers complained about the vehicle's great size, its performance was hard if not impossible to contest. The machine could develop 400 hp and its acceleration was phenomenal.

Once the modern times arrived, Chrysler proved its versatility and changed once with the automotive industry, delivering quality vehicles for an ever increasing mass of enthusiasts. Models such as the Sebring, 300M, 300C and PT Cruiser, a vehicle conceived as a blend of modern technology and retro style elements, managed to keep Chrysler among the top choices within US borders. Unlike other American car brands, such as Cadillac, Buick or Lincoln, Chrysler has received a great deal of attention overseas as well. During the 90's, the company merged with Daimler-Benz AG and formed Daimler Chrysler, which is currently a world leader in transportation.

2018 Chrysler 300 Consumer Reviews

seventeeninternet,
Get all the luxuries for less
Had a 2018 Chrysler 300c Platinum for 2 years. Absolutely loved it. Came with the 5.7L which was super nice so to me it felt like a tuned down R/T. This version has all the safety features Chrysler has to offer from lane keeping assist, emergency braking, adaptive cruise and auto turning headlights. Really liked the 19 speaker Harmon Kardon system with subs as well as the panoramic sunroof. The interior has Napa leather with heated/ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, auto dimming rear and side mirrors. Also another thing which most auto makers don’t do really is heated and cool cup holders. Best part is the smiles you get when you floor it and hear that V8 kick in. Few things, if you get one that has 20,000 plus miles check the interior and make sure there’s no rattles. For me after that many miles notice the rattling coming from the dash and the rear windshield. The suspension was another thing, started to notice a little bit of clunky noise going on in the front driver side. I’ve always know Stellantis (formerly FCA) to cut corners when it comes the quality of parts they use. Same thing happened when I owned my 2011 Dodge Charger. Also notice that possibly the manifold bolts were loose since when I started up the engine notice a ticking noise but goes away after the engine is warmed up. If your in the market for one of these highly recommend getting the safety/tech group pack with sound or just go for the 300c platinum which comes with the 5.7 by default.

A great full-size luxury, performance sedan
I Purchased my black 300C demo with mocha Napa leather seating. With only 6000 miles I was able to purchase this car for a fantastic price. Now over a year and 17,000 miles later. I still love this car and it's unique stying. The 300C offers solid performance from it's 5.7 hemi. A comfortable interior and enough tech to add extra enjoyment. This is my first 300 and I have no regrets purchasing this one. I test drove several vehicles and to be honest. The 300 was not on my list. Unfortunately the 300C was a rare model to find on dealership lots since most dealers stock Chargers and skip ordering the 300. When I saw this car with the fantastic 20" rims. The black exterior and beautiful Napa leather mocha interior. Not knowing the 300C came standard with a 5.7 hemi. Starting the engine put a big smile on my face from the deep V8 exhaust rumble. Popping the hood checked the box for performance. A weekend test drive sealed the deal. If you're in the market for a full size sedan. I highly recommend taking a look at a Chrysler 300. Especially a 300C. Great car.
favouritedisband,
Best luxury performance sedan for the money
I just Purchased a 2018 Black Chrysler 300C with dark mocha interior. The car was sold by a local Chrysler dealership and traded in with only 7000 miles at a local Ford dealership. The owner who is a contractor decided he needed a F150 pickup truck instead of a sedan. The car is new inside and out. The factory window sticker showed an MSRP of $44,000. I traded my 2017 Escape, receiving over the amount I was requesting and purchased this vehicle for $23,500. I contacted FCA and transferred the warranty the day I purchased it. I have to add the dealership let me use the vehicle for a full weekend. I absolutely love this car. It's design is pure luxury. The Hemi is pure performance. It rides and drives fantastic. The interior is roomy providing plenty of passenger room and passenger technology. I have to add. I've received more compliments for my Chrysler 300C than any prior vehicles I've owned. The 20" rims gives it a mean stance which adds to the luxury, performance look. Great car that I purchased at a outstanding price.
gillsgraphic,
My 3rd
My last 3 cars were 300's. Why? Because Looks, Ride, Quality, Big! American style car and I've had good luck with reliability. This car gets you noticed so I've never had an accident. And I'm convinced i'ts because I stand out amongst the plain. I buy used with low mileage and CPO and I am able to get a Fully Loaded 300. This time its a 2018 Limited with SafetyTec Plus Group, Dual–Pane Panoramic Sunroof, Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4–Inch Display. A $45,000 car and paid just over $20,000. No other car Chevy, Ford or the like even comes close to the value and the iconic head turner. As my 1st ,2nd and now 3rd 300, it's been the best car I ever had. I can only hope that FCA Group will extend the production of the 300.
spraychicago,
Amazing Value
I bought my 300 at the end of July 2018 and have out on 20000 miles so far. Since I am a larger guy I can still drive 500 miles and get out be ready to go. This is the most comfortable car I have ever owned. Also living in AZ I have to climb some larger mountains and have plenty of power to get up the hills. I have the V6 and sure the Hemi would be great but I have never been short of power.

NO BALLS HATE TRANMISSION

Extremely Happy
I've had an SUV for at least the last 15-20 years and decided to go with a full size car for the value because of the suv's being so popular they don't seem to give you the big rebates. I have nothing bad to say about the 300 except it took a while to get use to climbing out of the car instead of stepping out of the suv. You might think that's being a little tough but when you get older it's not always easy. I am extremely impressed with the power for passing and the overall comfort of the ride.
gongwood,
An affordable performance sedan with style
This car addressed all of my requirements. Lots of interior room, great acceleration and handling, sound system, and presence. I have only owned it a week and several people have already commented on its looks.
periodiccholly,
I Like my 300
great car, really under rated. very quiet, smooth and the v6 is very powerful.i drove a 2018 Buick lacrosse and the steering has a play in it. its rated higher than the 300, but the 300 steers perfectly. I would highly recommend anyone wanting a large comfortable car to take it for a ride.

"Very pleased with this car."
This has been a great car so far,own less than a year and driven about 10000 miles, the thing I love the most is the comfort on long trips, car is a eye catcher and people say what a nice looking car. I dont like it in city traffic, the 8 speed transmission is a little busy up and down hills, but when your cruising on the high way this car is smooth and gets 33 MPG. This car is a boulevard cruiser and if that"s how you drive it you will be very pleased as I am.
towelparsec, 10/21/2019
"Diggin the scene with the gangster lean!"
My car is a 300C AWD Luxury edition with all options. The car is built on a Mercedes platform, and it shows. Rock solid and quiet with HEMI power. Car performs well (my other car is a late model Z51 Corvette) handles amazingly well for it’s size and is church quiet inside. Interior is roomy, luxurious and soothing. Have had no unscheduled maintenance except alternator recall in 62,000 miles. Build quality is very high (pretty much on par with a Mercedes 600 I owned). THIS CAR IS GREAT FOR SOMEONE IN NEED OF A LARGE, FAST, CAPABLE SEDAN. 9.9/10!

"no need to say,but its been great"
This car is better than new, has all the extras and a ton of detail like new tires . has the 392 hp engine paddle shift. no accidents just a great car
