2008 Higher Than Normal Engine Idle

The engine may have a higher that normal idle at times. After cold start with an automatic transmission and when the clutch is depressed with a manual transmission. Our technicians tell us updated powertrain control module (PCM) software is available to address this concern.

    I can't get my engine to idle down. I have replaced the IAC valve but that did not solve my problem. What else could be causing my problem?

    have replaced computer aic maf or map whichever tps switch checked hoses ,just about everything i can think of. Idles at about 2100 rpm and now its started sputtering when so called idling. mash the gas and it goes just fine. but will not idle properly. any suggestion would be worth a million and a half.

    Engine infrequently races in idle, sometimes up to 3,000 rpm. So many Ford Ranger owners complain of this exact issue, Ford should have done a recall repair for the problem. Instead, every Ford mechanic I've talked to (several) seems clueless ... as if it's a rare isolated issue.
