Given the wide range of Challenger models and equipment, the driving experience for each is unlike the other. The SXT’s 305-horsepower V6 has plenty of power for the novice, and even offers the option of all-wheel drive. The same setup can be found in the GT, only with more features and suspension upgrades. The R/T offers the legendary 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine with 372 horsepower, while the R/T Scat Pack’s 392 V8 delivers an impressive 485 horses. The SRT Hellcat’s 717-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 is trumped only by the new-for-2019 Hellcat Redeye that delivers up an astounding 797 horsepower for a zero-to-60-mph run of just 3.4 seconds, a 10.8-second quarter-mile time and a top speed of 203 mph. The Widebody models come with wider wheels and tires for better grip, and Dodge offers a dizzying array of colors, add-ons and features to make the 2019 Challenger one of the most customizable performance cars money can buy.
ALL-WHEEL DRIVE We all know muscle cars are all about blistering straight-line performance, but the Challenger SXT and GT models with all-wheel drive take a different tack. This feature not only improves the Challenger’s cornering and handling, but also winter-weather driving ability, something no other muscle car offers.SRT HELLCAT REDEYE Borrowing much of last year’s Demon components, the SRT Hellcat Redeye delivers an impressive performance-to-dollar ratio, with an eye-popping 797-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 yet with a starting price under $ 75,000.
You'd never know that the Challenger was capable of shenanigans from its pleasant and comfortable interior. The touch screen in the center is an old friend, enhanced this year with Uconnect 8.4, which brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's a retro feel that still looks modern, and we like the big driver-info center between the main gauges. No doubt, the thick rear pillars take some getting used to, but blind-spot warning and a rearview camera make the Challenger easy to drive. The rear seat can actually fit three across, unusual for this class, and the trunk is enormous, albeit with a high liftover.
The Challenger's classic long-hood/short-deck proportions and wide stance grumble “performance” in every single model, and with their flared fenders and other details, the Widebody Hellcat and R/T models shout it outright. Details like hood scoops, badging and optional stripes throw in a retro feel. It just looks cool, successfully fighting the urge to be overly old-fashioned, and remains sleek and modern with a timeless appeal and the masculine swagger of an MMA champion. And if that swagger isn’t enough you can also get some of the bright colors with the fun names from back in the day, like IndiGO Blue, White Knuckle and Plum Crazy.
The 2019 Dodge Challenger SXT comes with the V6 engine, a Uconnect infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touch screen that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary inputs, 2-zone automatic climate control, remote start and a host of additional convenience features. There are eight different Challenger models, each with its own list of "standard" equipment, but generally the higher up you go, the more stuff you get. Hound’s-tooth cloth seats are standard on all models, while an 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on V6 models and optional on V8 models.
The Challenger SXT and GT add all-wheel drive to V6 models, while the Challenger R/T gets the 5.7-liter V8. We recommend the Performance Handling Package for 5.7-liter models to upgrade the suspension and brakes. Challenger R/T Scat Pack 392 comes with the bigger V8 and generally nicer interior and equipment levels. The supercharged SRT Hellcat and Hellcat Widebody are basically loaded from the factory. Unlike the previous Demon, the SRT Hellcat Redeye comes with a back seat and can be upgraded with the same features as the Hellcat. We recommend the Uconnect 8.4 system, which enhances the infotainment with a bigger screen and navigation.
In the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) SXT and GT, a 305-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is the standard engine, with all-wheel drive (AWD) offered as an option on both trims. Moving to the R/T brings the first in a series of Hemi V8s, in this case a 375-horsepower 5.7-liter unit and a 6-speed manual transmission (the 8-speed automatic reduces horsepower to 372). The R/T Scat Pack is powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8, also known as the 392, rated at 485 horsepower with either the manual or 8-speed automatic. The SRT Hellcat adds a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 717 horsepower, which would make it the king of the hill if it weren't for the 797-horsepower SRT Hellcat Redeye. All V8-powered Challengers except the Redeye can be ordered with a 6-speed manual transmission, but the 8-speed automatic doesn't shortchange performance. Obviously, none of these cars are fuel-economy kings, although the V6 models aren't bad. 3.6-liter V6 (SXT, GT) 305 horsepower @ 6,350 rpm 268 lb-ft of torque @ 4,800 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 19/30 mpg (RWD), 18/27 mpg (AWD) 5.7-liter Hemi V8 372 horsepower @ 5,200 rpm (automatic) 375 horsepower @ 5,150 rpm (manual) 400 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpm (automatic) 410 lb-ft of torque @ 4,300 rpm (manual) EPA city/highway fuel economy: 16/25 mpg (automatic), 15/23 mpg (manual) 6.4-liter Hemi V8 485 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm 475 lb-ft of torque @ 4,200 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 15/24 mpg (automatic), 14/23 mpg (manual) 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 (SRT Hellcat) 717 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm 656 lb-ft of torque @ 4,800 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 13/22 mpg (automatic), 13/21 mpg (manual) 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 (SRT Hellcat Redeye) 797 horsepower @ 6,300 rpm (91 octane) 707 lb-ft of torque @ 4,500 rpm (91 octane) EPA city/highway fuel economy: 13/22 mpg
The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price on a base-model, RWD Dodge Challenger SXT starts at about the $ 28,690, including the $ 1,395 destination charge, a lot of car for the money. Add $ 3,000 for all-wheel drive. The GT starts just under $ 31,400. The nicely equipped R/T with the 5.7-liter V8 starts at about $ 35,500, while the R/T Scat Pack and its 6.4-liter V8 starts at about $ 41,400 including the $ 1,000 gas-guzzler tax. Looked at one way, the $ 61,745 price of the 717-horsepower SRT Hellcat (down $ 5,000 over last year’s model) isn't cheap, but on the other hand, it's a heck of a bargain for that much power. The SRT Hellcat Redeye lists for about $ 73,000, but dealers aren't exactly beholden to that. Check the Fair Purchase Price on to see what others in your area paid, and note that the Challenger bucks the trend of low resale value on Dodges, holding its own against the Mustang and Camaro.OK, so what's next?I'm interested in the newest version of this car. What's for sale near me?I'm interested in this car, and I'd like to trade in my current car while I'm at it.Then again, maybe I should be thinking about a used car.
In 2014, the iconic Dodge Challenger got a big facelift, since you can’t really mess around with the classics.
Dodge practically patented the muscle car. Little did they know they would become one of America's top Automobile manufacturers and that the Charger model, for example, particularly the 66-67 one, would trigger jaw dropping amazement at its sight. John Francis and Horace Elgin Dodge were making bikes in 1901 when they decided to move their company, the Dodge Brothers Bicycle & Machine Factory to Detroit, Michigan.
Before Cadillac would outrun Dodge in engine development years later, the Brothers were supplying car parts for many producers. Their early involvement in the process of making cars lead them to starting their own business, entering the queue for a large order of recognition and notoriety. Setting the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company in 1914 brought them a step closer to the counter.
The first Dodge automobiles shared some of Ford Model T's features but outran the latter in terms of ignition and other improvements meant to ease driving. One of the major advantages Dodge offered was a smooth, electrical start rather than the sluggishly classic crank start. Built for the middle class, the cars quickly became a commercial success, mainly due the clever blend of reliable ruggedness, engine improvements and style elements.
By 1917, Dodge had produced enough cars to start thinking expanding in other car-manufacturing areas. Trucks seemed like something they could successfully take on and the Dodge truck division came to being. Dodge trucks were used by the US army during the First World War after which they kept being used as commercial vehicles.
The Dodge brothers sold their business to Dillon, Read & company for the astoundingly large sum of $ 146 million, said to be the largest amount in history to have been paid at the time. Dillon helmed Dodge management only for 3 years, passing the new acquisition to the Chrysler Corporation on July 31, 1928.
Due to Chrysler's financial conquests over some European automotive groups, such as the British Rootes group and the French Simca, Dodge is introduced to Europe in the 60's. Lightweight commercial vehicles are sold here under a different badge. The Dodge 50 series is fairly well received in the UK, becoming a favorite for military and utility operations.
1977 brought forth the collapse of Chrysler's European subsidiary and its adjacent Dodge branch altogether. The Dodge factory as well as some rights to use the Dodge name were purchased by Renault who resumed the production of Dodge's commercial vehicles. However, Renault only made use of the Dodge name till the 80's when it gave up control over the name rights. Only the factory was kept.
Dodge is currently part of the DaimlerChrysler group and has been lately been know for its trucks rather than retro-future stylized muscle cars as it used to be know for during the 60's and 70's. Much like any other American car builder, Dodge garnered huge amounts of success at the time with the launch of the Charger and Coronet models, to name only a few.
As far as the company's current status is concerned, trucks make the most sales, representing 78% of the division's venue. Still undergoing intensive promotion in Europe, Dodge have sought to reach the same type of customer it did back in the 70's by launching a series of mean-looking, rowdy road-tamers such as the Nitro and Caliber.

A Beast On Mute!
The styling of this vehicle is definitely an eye catcher and it’s timeless! I especially like that I can set up how I want the car to perform ( launch control, track times, dump etc.) on any given Sunday! 305 horsepower is nothing to sneeze at, and the AWD means that it hugs the road in inclement weather. The AWD engages automatically when my wipers and headlights turn on, or when the vehicle senses an ambient temperature of less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit! This is my daily, all season driver which I couldn’t do with the higher horsepower, rear wheel only vehicles. I love all the features and versatility of my Challenger!

Nice Retro Looking 70’s Car But Needs More HP.
I bought a 2019 Challenger GT after reading some good reviews. As much as I like my car it isn’t perfect. The paint job in certain areas trunk and pillars on the side (blind spot area) have what looks like pin pricks in the paint. Dodge should be embarrassed to have let this ho thru quality control. Next up is the lack of power. The Pentastar V-6 is a decent engine but at 305hp and the fact this is a 4000 lb. car it will get whipped everytime by Caramo RS and LS’s and Mustang Ecoboosts and also by Toyota Camry V-6’s. This IS NOT a muscle car by today’s standards. The interior is nice and the 8.4 Screen touchscreen is excellent. One last gripe is that the entire taillight section is made of cheap plastic. Come on Dodge you can do better than this. Even the more expensive Challengers like The Hellcat gets the same cheap plastic. You’d think if you’re paying $60/70,000 on a car you’d have better materials.

Nice Looking Challenger With Some Issues.
My 2019 Dodge Challenger GT is a nice riding car and has a huge trunk. The rear seating area is much better than either the Mustang or Camaro. My car is equipped with the Pentastar V-6 engine (305 hp) which lacks torque (265 LB/FT) compared to the larger V-8 Hemi engines. While the GT is considerably slower than an R/T or R/T Scat Pack it does get far better fuel economy than other cars. Quality wise I’ll have to give my Challenger a thumbs down for the cheap rear tail light section with the Dodge logo. It’s very cheap looking plastic. Inside there’s an abundance of cheap plastic too. The Go Mango orange paint on my car in certain spots looks like there are pin pricks in the paint. After about two months of ownership my driver’s side window started giving me issues. And once in a while the performance pages will either take forever to load or not even. All in all it’s a pretty nice car but I’m questioning it’s reliability.
sunnycomma,
Many flaws
Brand new car: headlights worst I’ve had in any car ever owned (10+). Backup camera blinds you at night cannot see out of side mirrors. Sunglasses holder mounted on roof broken out of the factory (known problem for years!). Very underpowered AC and the hottest temps I was in 95 degrees. Traded in my Toyota Corolla for this show car, bad choice. It was my white trash fantasy car and my mistake. Sold it after 6 months. Nice for speed bad on gas. Visibility is not good....
endnotetokahee,
Great Looking Retro Muscle Car.
The 2019 Challenger GT isn’t exactly a muscle car by today’s standards but it will keep up with 1970-71 Challenger’s with the 383 engines. And in the eighties cars like the Camaro IROC-Z and Mustang GT were only putting out 225hp in their v-8 engines. This Challenger GT has 305hp! My 2019 GT is in bright orange and has the black top package which includes a blacked out grill, black 19” wheels, rear spoiler and a black fuel filler cap. I have the optional super track pack which includes performance pages to change the performance and handling of the car. The car handles well for such a large automobile and when you hit the gas it picks right up. So it’s not a hemi but you will save money on gas and auto insurance. It’s a great boulevard cruiser and it looks similar to a Challenger that costs twice as much such as the Hellcat. As a matter with it’s SRT chin spoiler and functional center hoodscoop you’ could easily misrake the GT for an R/T or Hellcat.

The reason for the three stars is the lack of quality with the paint and terrible customer service. When I purchased the car I took it to have a ceramic coating applied. The technician noticed a couple of abnormalities in the paint. The dealership said the warranty would take care of it. They outsourced my car and it came back in worse condition. After 10 months of fighting with FCA trying to get them to honor the resulting loss. They never did! My car is now no where worth what it should be. Otherwise the Challenger is awesome. Beware though, FCA doesn’t care about their customers - and won’t stand by their products.

WHAT A CAR!
I Traded in a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack Shaker 6 speed manual for my 2019 Challenger 1320. WOW! What a car. The drag pack features lifted from the Demon really make this car something special. Amazing launches, great ride, and plenty of power make this my favorite car I have ever owned. What a great Bang for the Buck car. Plus it get's plenty of attention because a lot of people know the car is something special. GET ONE.

Best thing is the looks and acceleration
Driving the car off the lot I found the sunglasses holder broken day one. Known issue for years Dodge keeps using the junky parts. Air Conditioner was subpar noticed immediately and not even summertime yet. Backup camera was a joke super bright at night so you become blinded and can't view side mirrors-during the day it was great and clear. The big car drove nice but in the city barely fits in parking spots and was hard to get around, it's like driving a boat which was fun but not in the cramped city. MPG ok avg 23 but got over 30 on long trips. Great if you wanna pass someone just put the hammer down and Go! Quality was lacking in a few areas that really irked me...I'd say the car is a 3/5.

Fast and comfortable
I have a 2019 Hellcat Redeye. Easy mid 10 sec.quarter mile @133 on slicks. Quality is great. The car handles great. It stops very good, and of course wtih almost 800 h.p. is very fast. Just stay away from all season tires. It will smoke the tires at ANY speed. Treat it with resepect, and you can drive it in any weather. Seats are comfortable. For well under $1000,000, you have a world beater. Faster the most supercars.

"I love this car!"
This was my mid life crisis car, bright red 2015 Challenger 6 speed manual with 5.7 Hemi. But man, what a wonderful car. I had a 73 340 'Cuda back in the day. This is so much more car! Leather interior is awesome, electronics are awesome. I drove up to Sonoma last weekend. Got 24.3 mpg with a Hemi V-8. Then I drove it at a performance driving course there at the track, hitting 138 mph. Handled great, easily ran with BMW M3s and Porches. Just love this car.

"Great Muscle Car, with smaller but powerful engine"
I have the "fully loaded" model that includes a technology package, adaptive cruise control, navigation, moonroof, premium wheels, backing camera and it is very efficient, but also very quick.
Interiors are pretty ample, as it is the only Muscle Car (Camaro, Mustang & Challenger) that fits 5 people.... and it does. I frequently have my wife, 18, 17 and 11 year olds riding with me and they do alright.
I love my Challenger.
