Soon after the attack was initiated, early models of Acura vehicles quickly took over vast US car market shares on the road to victory. Acura was born as the rich child of the elder Honda father-brand and quickly became the driving force that would change customers' perception of Asian motorized artisanship. The package Acura delivered to the US after Honda had spent 10 ears of research consisted of only two models: the Legend and the Integra. The road-runner pair had enough success overseas to compel competing Asian brands into sending their own troops to the US. Not only did the NSX strike a weak spot, but it also garnered appreciation as being the first series car made entirely of aluminum. Despite its early success, Acura entered some mid 90's dark ages as a result of reported poor design choices and failure to rejuvenate the already existing line of models. By 1996, the Legend and Integra names were dropped and replaced with parsimonious alphanumeric tags as part of a new naming nomenclature that would drag the entire brand to a mild maelstrom of confusion. Subsequent model improvements and quasi-subtle Lexus design forgery plunged Acura into temporary platitude, despite its engine power upgrades to more than 200 hp on 1996's 3.5 RL - the reinvented Legend.
The knockdown effect would not last for long though, as the beginning of the 21st century brought Acura to a fresh start with the introduction of several redesigned models, such as the 1999 Acura 3.2 TL, engineered as a challenger against competition's wheeler-troopers, such as the Lexus ES, Infiniti l30 and the the BMW 3-series. Despite having failed to dominate its foes, the 3.2 earned much acclaim due to its consumer attractiveness that was the result of a balanced blend of luxury, sportiness and competitive pricing.
In a matter of years, Acura took on SUV territory with the MDX and continued to sustain the rise of its machines with new accomplishments and faster, better units at the exiting factory gates. In fact, Acura is currently leading a full-scale take-over, with the brand having reached Chinese markets only two years ago and plans for breaking into the former USSR compound by the end of 2008.

A Pretty Good Car
It's had fewer problems than other cars we've owned. I've done most of the work on it myself. One major problem was that it wouldn't start when hot. After checking on the Internet for a while, I fixed it at no cost by re-soldering a cracked solder joint in the main relay. Another problem was that one couldn't immediately remove the ignition key after starting the car. Again, the Internet came to the rescue and I had to clean the transmission lever electrical contacts (a lot of screws to remove to get to it). The ignition switch failed but got fixed by cleaning and lubing the contacts. A lot of work getting to it. Other problems were mostly like this, little cost but some work needed.

With over 250,000 miles on it i drove it from California to Texas with no problems. didn't think i would buy a car and have it forever.

BEEN IN THE FAMILY SINCE NEW
My mom bought a 1990 acura integra GS in the summer of 1989. I had never seen anything like it. It was small and sleek and yet so nimble. I wanted it. .. ten years later. I got it.
I always thought I'd only have it for a few years, and that turned into 13. Now it's old now and cosmetically falling apart, but the second you turn the key and take off, all the scuffs, scratches and dings disappear. It's the most fun I've ever had driving a car. It's like a cross fit champion wearing an awkward and ill fitting suit. It's time for me to finally move on. But this car never required anything but replacement parts that couldn't last the 250k miles I put on it. Most reliable car I've ever owned.

Great car
I read some of these reviews had to add mine. Had an '88 Integra LS and it was like a tank. Was broadsided by a semi on I-40 in an ice storm. Drove it from AR to KY for the holidays and then down to AL where I relocated. Finally had it fixed. Best car I ever had and only sold it at 137000 miles because 2d child arrived. Too much to pack 2 kids and an 80 lb dog for the trips to see the grandparents. Now I'm looking for another for those kids as they start to drive.
Have 2000 s10 4wd 3 door stepside, bought for $ 1000, been driving for 4 years, engine still feels new, no issues with the transmission. Have traveled completely cross country in it. It never let me down. I keep easing along I can see it easily reaching 300,000. *****
