When accelerating usually between 25-40 mph there is a vibration that feels like I'm going over rumble strips in the road. This just started about six weeks ago. What is the fix and how much does it cost?

  • 2006 98,000 Miles
I noticed a shudder or vibration at about 20 MPH. Just recently developed. More noticeable going up hill or faster acceleration, so when there is more of a load.

  • 2006 140,000 Miles
on acceleration from a stop, there is shudder ( strong). This is to about to 2000 rpm. Once the car is moving no issues at all.

SUBARU OUTBACK WAGON LL BEAN MODEL, HAS SHUTTER WHEN 1ST TAKING OFF, SEEMS TO EITHER STOP OR NOT NOTICABLE AT 40 MPH, HAD TRANSMISSION SERVICED REPLACED FLUID, FILTER AND ADDED ANTI-SHUTTER ADDITIVE, HAD REAR DIFF SERVICED AND REPLACED FLUID, NO SIGNS OF PROBLEM NOTICABEL UNDER THE CAR

Car has a vibration and stuttering noise that seems to come from the rear half of the car. I first noticed it after driving in the mountains and on some dirt roads. It only happens when the car is accelerating from a stop and the noise and vibration stops at 10 miles per hour. Happens 75 percent of the time and in first, second and reverse. I checked the rear differential fluid and it's fine.

Strong vibration noted when accelerating starting at 40mph and correcting At 60 mph.

  • 2006 186,000 Miles
Car vibrates and you can visually see it on the steering wheel, when accelerating on an incline. If foot is removed from has pedal the vibration immediately stops.

  • 2006 128,000 Miles
Vibration is first noticed at about 2,000 RPM (25-35 MPH), then subsides. Initially only driver felt it. Has steadily gotten worse, enough mo that passenger also feels.

Same issues. Can it be fixed?

  • 2006 85,000 Miles
Feel shuddering in gas pedal when accelerating from stop. Shuddering stops after gaining some speed.

  • 2006 9,500 Miles
Vibration from stop during acceleration. Smooths out about 2,500 to 3,000 RPM

  • 2006 0 Miles
Steering wheel not only vibrates at high speeds (65-75mph), car shutters when turning at slower speeds and when accelerating (5-20mph). Brand new 2011 Outback shouldn't have problems with steering!!!

  • 2006 5,000 Miles
Usually happens as I turn into my subdivision where there is a slight hill. The car shutters as you accelerate slowly. It also happens starting out from a stop.

I first noticed shaking toward the right front side of my Outback at 55,000 miles, starting around 2,000rpm and or 20mph. I thought it was an unbalanced tire or damaged rim. I had the tires checked and rebalanced and the shaking subsided for just a while, it returned very noticeably around 62,000 miles and the shaking has gotten progressively worse. I now have 88,000 miles and it is really annoying. It happens intermittently at 20mph on up to 80mph and the faster I'm going the more intense the shaking. The shaking seemed to originate from the right front and now it comes from the center, the right center, the dash, center console, and both sides of the rear. It does not come from or through the steering wheel. I've checked with my preferred mechanic and 2 dealers. My mechanic is baffled and thinks it maybe the transmission. The dealers are playing it down and I need to revisit a dealer since it's gotten so bad. Does anyone have this same issue? Apart from this very annoying problem I love the car. Please share anything you may know about this problem. It's really frustrating and any experience you have that you could share with me would be greatly appreciated. I need something tangible to help explain this to the dealer. Thanks!

From stop, slightly faster than average acceleration, vibration occurs around 15-20 mph then subsides until even fainter vibration around 75 mph

  • 2006 90,000 Miles
Shuddering when coming to a stop, backing up, or accelerating above 2000rpm from slower speeds. Replaced torque convertor for $ 1200. Mileage is now at 125k and problem is happening again. If this costs more than $ 500 to fix this time we're scrapping the Subaru and going back to CR-V!!

  • 2006 10,000 Miles
My 2011 3.6R Limited Outback would shudder around 1,600rpm... usually when lightly accelerating or when going up small hills. Torque converter was replaced and the transmission was re-flashed back into a learning mode. The shudder is now gone, but has been replaced by a number of other symptoms.
