Loose/Worn Inner Tire Rod Ends Can Cause Steering/Tire Wear Problems
2004 Loose/Worn Inner Tire Rod Ends Can Cause Steering/Tire Wear Problems
While steering, if you hear a clunk or a rattle, or if you experience premature tire wear, this could indicate the
inner tie rod ends
are loose or worn and will require replacement.
Took the car for diagnosis after hearing clunking/grating from axle area. Replaced tie rods, no more issue.

The steering wheel trembles in my hands when I brake on a decline. My mechanic just diagnosed faulty inner tie rods on the front. Seven years ago we had to change the outer tie rods. I know she has a lot of miles under her belts, but I got over a million miles on my 89' Chevy Blazer, and I never had a tie rod problem. I do drive mountain roads here, but I'm just wondering how common this problem is with the Taurus. Thanks, JR
