1993 Worn Motor Mounts Can Damage AC Hoses

Worn motor mounts can cause the motor to rise during acceleration, causing a clunking noise and possibly damaging the AC hoses. Damage to the AC hoses can cause a loss refrigerant resulting in no cold air from the AC. The motor mount will need to be replaced prior to repairing the damaged hose or the problem will continue.

I didn't realize I had a motor mount problem. Thought the trans was slipping. Drove it that way for a long time until the muffler dropped down from its holder in the rear. Lo and behold, it was the front motor mount and when it failed, everything came apart. I read that leaking power steering fluid can erode the motor mount below it and the air conditioning hose below that. I brought this to the attention of my mechanic (THREE comebacks on this job and I had him replace the AC hose. Instantly I had wonderful AC...I had given up on that the previous summer :-0Car's still not right and he went out of business! But the AC is great.

Front passenger motor mount broke several times. My ac aluminum line tore off the car also. Still waiting for repair. Engine displacement may also affect starter? Three starter replacements in 2 years. Power steering leak also affects starter etc.
