1998 Cadillac Eldorado The Trunk Lid Won't Close Due to Trunk Pull Down Switch Failure

The trunk pull down switch may fail causing the trunk lid not to close completely. Our technicians tell us that the failed switch can be replaced without changing the complete pull down motor assembly.

1994 Cadillac Eldorado. Trunk lid releases and raises. It will not pull down when closed and latched. The Key will not turn to unlock.Purchased new pull down switch on top of motor and still the same. Motor works up and down when hooked direct to battery and goes ups and when reverse polarity lowers. Is there a switch in the deck lid perhaps that changes the polarity when opened? What do you suggest?

The Trunk Lid Won't Close Due to Trunk Pull Down Switch Failure

Trunk pull down failed. On my last Cadoo, a 94 DeVille, I took apart the motor, wound down the bolt and super-glued it down. It then became a slam down trunk. Not 1 problem with it after that. Took about an hour.

trunk pull down motor don't work. at about 100,000 miles i relaced the motor with the original motor. and it worked until now. part cost apr $ 300.00 . not wanting to spend that much i bought a doorman motor for $ 76.00. i had a mechanic put it in,and this one didn't work. he said it was the correct repacement but didn't no where to go from there. the fuse is on the same circuit as the antenna ,and that was ok. not wanting to spend a lot of money ,he didn't charge me for replacing the motor. but it might run in to a lot of time and money researching the problem.this is a second," run around town " car and the trunk latch does work. but i would like some other ideas .i love this car i bought a newer one just like it with 40,000 miles that will last me the rest of my life. my wife drives that one. p gower

Does anyone know if the fuse marked trunk pull down located in the trunk fuse box is always hot. I have no voltage at the fuse when the car is turned off. I am trying to diagnose what is causing my trunk pull down to not work. I removed the motor and tested with a 12 volt power source and it works fine. The fuse is good but it seems to me that the fuse should always have power and it doesn't. The plug that goes into the pull down switch has 4 terminals. Is there a relay or something in the circuit that I don't know about ? Should I replace the switch next?

It wasn't fixed. No money. The lid used to slowly close. Now, I have to close all the way manually. It quit about the time the air ride quit lifting.

motor works fine, the switch on top of the motor which senses trunk down/up and controls the direction of travel (polarity of motor electric) has failed. Lots of "motor/bracket/geartrain" parts out there with out the switch which do not fix the problem. Can't find the switch only part and the full monty is $ 200+ !!!!!! sigh
