2001 Cadillac DeVille Replace Fuel Filter Every 30,000 to Prevent Fuel Pump Failure

The fuel pump may fail causing the engine to stall and not restart. Our technicians recommend replacing the fuel filter every 30,000 miles to help prevent undue strain on the fuel pump.

engine stalled in middle on intersection, coasted into nearby parking lot, it cranks and has spark but won't start. Due to erratic fuel gauge, thought it was out of gasoline, but put couple gallons into it, and still would not start, even though it cranked great. Haven't fixed it yet,

I just replace the broken wire to the column and replace the starter, and I drove it and now it will turn run a couple seconds and die off I put gas and nothing then I checked the carbarator and no fuel was being passed to the carbarator, so now what do I do replace the fuel filter or fuel pump, can the pump be fixed instead of being replaced?, my friend told me to check the fuel line's they may be pinched some were, what's your recommendation

When attempting to accelerate, car would feel as if it shutting down. Pulled over and car shut down. Attempted to start but only would crank.

  • 2001 85,000 Miles
Ran out of gas because sensor fluctuations.Used a gas can (2gallon) four times and filled car up. Car wouldn't crank over, so speculation is either fuel filter of fuel pump. Hoping it's only the fuel filter lol

  • 2001 155,000 Miles
After car sits for a while it is hard starting---you have to pump the gas pedal at least once for the engine to start----after the car has run if you shut it off it will start instantly without touching the gas pedal

2004 DHS with northstar engine will occasionally die during city driving. No codes set, only the battery symbol displayed, engine will restart immediately. Changed the Idle Control valve but the problem continued. Finally alternator failed stranding vehicle on the street, switch would not provide electrical power to anything, had to be towed. Alternator replacement did not fix random engine failure. It continues usually when stopping, sometimes while stopped waiting for a light change or turning a corner. Has not yet failed at any speed above 40 mph. Have not had switch recall fixed, have only remote fob hanging on key. Have had fuel pump checked, saw a reference about engine ground failure and start switch failure. What other things can be causing this problem?

Engine started cutting out, seemed fuel starved, stalled. I had towed and is currently being serviced, believe fuel pump is bad.

Same issue, car was running fine, I did notice that it would hestitate once every 3 months but thought it was winter and a rough cold start idle. Then spring came and it just died.
