1997 Crankshaft Position Sensor, Ignition/Powertrain Control Module May Fail

The crankshaft position sensor , ignition module , and/or powertrain control module (PCM) may fail resulting in illumination of the Check Engine Light with ignition system related fault codes stored in the PCM. Patience is necessary when dealing with this specific situation as normal diagnostic procedures are not effective. In many cases, the best option is to replace parts, one at a time until the fault is corrected.

    Car would start fine but after it warmed up would stall at lights, or sputter and hesitate until engine got cold and then same symptoms.The TPS has a spring in it that gets weak and once heated engine can start to act up if spring goes bad or so Im rtold, Anyways I changed the TPS and car works fine, good luck.

    Key sticking in ignition will not remove unless juggle gearshift. Was repaired 2010? ignition was replaced. About a year ago new key was made. This one stick's in ignition, and won't unlock door from outside. Work was done first time, at Haslewood Buick, and second time ignition problem was taken to Grey Chev.
