I notice the oil leaking on my garage floor I cleaned it up a few days later it was back again is this a costly repair.

I don't know where the leak is, I just know that I have a smell that is like oil burning on the engine. Looking to see if this is a common problem. I was thinking it may be leaking valve covers. But, like I said, I don't know where the oil is coming from.

small oil leak from engine. Aged out of warranty. Repair tech tells me "oil is cheap!", meaning that I don't want to spend the money it would cost to repair the problem.Very irritated with Buick, especially since this engine has been around for years.

Very expensive to fix! The shop next to me who does excellent work said $ 1,000.00 plus to fix it and put Buicks "new and improved gasket in!" He also said he wasn't even sure he wanted to tackle the job because of all the time and labor! Good job buick for skimping on a seal that is very important and not costly to put in one that will last more than 75,000 miles! I am reporting this issue to GM. I also had a leaky trunk in my brand new basically car. Opened it up and it was totally full of water!! After some research I figured out it was to GM not using a quality patch and glue! It was also a costly repair as it requires removing the bumper etc. Now the massive Northstar V8 has to be removed to replace a "new and improved front crankshaft seal" that costs 30 bucks in it's own. It's the labor that costs you as a consumer on this repair. Such an awesome and seemingly well made vehicle otherwise. Shame on you GM for not using quality materials on something so important! The other sad part is mine is a 2008 and they have had 2006 models with the same issue! Like I said a beautiful quality car and they just made it a night mare. I still owe $ 8,000 on the car! Bought it for $ 12,000. I thought to myself, wow such a quality vehicle with low mileage that will last my family for years to come. Now I've put maybe 7 to 10k miles on the car and its dripping oil puddles. Basically a new car, unreal. I have been dealing with it as I am still paying for the vehicle dearly and don't have over a grand to fix it. Thank you GM for using quality were it really matters. Should be a recall since such a costly, stupid, and poor engineering on General Motors behalf. Now tgey have a "new and improved gasket". Of course you do GM.

Purchased used in 2012 @ 66000 miles. Now at 106000mi I noticed light smoke from under the hood. Noticed a pin hole leak (coolant) in one of the hoses leading into the engine. Took it to shop for repair, mechanic noticed oil leaking from rear main real. Also in addition to pin hole coolant leak the water pump and lower intake was leaking and the thermostat is bad. The front engine and top strut engine mounts were needing replacement anyway, but since the rear main seal work will require removing the transmission I am having all 4 mounts replaced (front, rear, trans, top strut) because i have seen many comments about issues with them. Also Tech advised on having oil pan dropped to replace gasket since the transmission will already be out of the way.All together $ 4100 with no warranty.(Included in that price I also got all new tire pressure sensors, Nitrogen Tire fill, tire rotationWork being done: rear main seal, all engine/trans mounts, water pump, thermostat, lower intake hose, oil pan gasket, oil drain plug and seal, oil/trans/coolant flush

    Not yet fixed.

  • 2006 100,000 Miles
my mechanic says they all do that. at least $ 2500 to fix 24hours of labor to remove engine and trans split motor and replace seal...he says if you're going to fix this best to change all gaskets AC compressor and other acsessories because thats the only way to get at and change those too.

crankcase seal needs replacement. Buick says pull engine and repair (likely also do spark plugs and water pump for parts only). Cost $ 2860.00

  • 2006 0 Miles
lower part of engine oil leak, spray on to trans case at front of engine area, and by starter, and under oil pan

  • 2006 58,000 Miles
Small drops of oil on garage floor = diagnosis indicates engine needs to be pulled to repair the leak which involves replacing a seal = $ 1,800. Advised to drive as is and worry about it when I see a puddle of oil on the floor.

I just found out I had this problem. I am very upset. I was told it could be anywhere from $ 900 to $ 2000 to be fixed. I haven't decided what to do yet.

split block oil seal leaks and makes a mess wherever I park. I now have 85000 on the car and get an oily smoke smell in the car when I park it. Was told it would cost $ 4000 to fix, so I am living with it.

Walker Cadillac/Buick/Gmc said the engine was leaking oil from valve covers, timing case, oil pan, rear main seal. They told us they did not do this kind of work just keep adding oil to it?????? That"s a joke! I even bought the car there.. I asked if the car had any recall"s and told me no.

The upper oil pan seal leaks oil on hard acceleration and when the car is parked on an incline. After driving the vehicle for a bit there is a strong smell of burnt oil in the cab upon stopping. I have taken the car to three mechanics and the lowest quote to fix the problem has been $ 2000. I check the oil several times between oil changes and never have to add any oil so the leak is not that bad.

  • 2006 100,000 Miles
Oil leak is small, constant irritation. I have decided to live with it, as others havedone the engine removal/gasket replacement, only to have leak reappear.

  • 2006 69,000 Miles
I went in for a tire repair and was told that they found a leak in the crankcase. It was a massive job that took several days to fix. It was very expensive. I was told it was out of warranty. I thought that modern cars were built better now.
