The Quattroporte series was continued in 1994 when the Italian car manufacturer brought out a more aerodynamic version of the car produced since 1963.

1976 - 1990

Maserati presented the third generation Quattroporte in 1979 and was designed to compete with the popular Mercedes Benz 450 SEL 6.9. But more important, the rear-wheel drive Quattroporte was a mix of sports, luxury and stylish features which turned it into the perfect luxury car for every businessman, although it was sold at pretty high prices. This new generation Quattroporte was produced between 1976 and 1990 but was divided into two parts, each of them marketed under different names. The first one, available since 1976 until 1979 was known as 4porte, while the second one was mostly called Quattroporte, although they were basically the same car. There were two engine choices, a 4.1 V8 and a 4.9 V8, which produced 254 and 280 horsepower.

1974 - 1978

The second generation Maserati Quattroporte was presented at the 1974 edition of the Turin Auto Show and continued to be developed under the Citroen patronage, similar to the first series of the car.

1963 - 1969

The first generation Maserati Quattroporte saw daylight in 1963 but was discontinued in 1969 with approximately 830 units built.
