With its standard 3.6-liter V6 being one of the most powerful engines in its class, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica delivers an extremely satisfying on-road performance. The V6 is attached to an improved 9-speed automatic transmission that has been reworked to deliver maximum performance and fuel economy. On the open road, the Pacifica’s handling isn’t sporty, but it is competent, with a very comfortable ride, firm steering and excellent brakes. In sharp curves, the Pacifica will lean a bit, but not so much that it feels like a Slinky creeping down a set of stairs. The interior is remarkably quiet, not only devoid of excessive road and wind noise, but those annoying squeaks and rattles that often accompany minivan interiors. In these areas and more, Chrysler’s new Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid are way ahead of rivals like the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey, with the hybrid offering similar acceleration and an easily achievable 33 miles of electric-only range. Unlike the Honda and Toyota, however, the Pacifica’s long-term reliability and resale have yet to be determined.
STOW 'N GOUnique to the minivan world are Chrysler’s Stow ‘n Go 2nd-row seats. Where other minivans require you to manually remove and store the seats, the Pacifica’s fold flush into the floor. And, unlike the seats in the old Town & Country, the Pacifica’s seats are actually now comfortable on long trips.PLUG-IN HYBRID POWERTRAINUnique to the minivan world, the Pacifica Hybrid offers 7-passenger seating and excellent fuel economy thanks to an advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain that can run up to 33 miles solely on electric power. With a combined mpg city/highway rating of 84 MPGe (32 mpg on gasoline only), it’s the most fuel-efficient minivan on the market.
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica's interior design speaks for itself, as a quick glance at the pictures shows. What you don't see is the practicality. The comfortable front, 2nd-row and even 3rd-row seats can all handle adult frames. The Stow 'n Go 2nd -row seats are finally comfortable, and a removable center seat means there's 8-passenger seating. The power hatch opens quickly to showcase an enormous cargo well. Options include a massive Uconnect infotainment screen in front, and a panoramic roof that looks cool, but eliminates the center position in the second row due to the lack of an upper-seatbelt anchor. Total cargo volume of 140.5 cubic feet is slightly less than the segment-leading Honda Odyssey’s 148.5.
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica successfully borrows design cues we've seen on the Chrysler 200 midsize sedan. The headlights, grille and entire front end present a distinct and handsome face to the minivan world. In a way it's a throwback to the Chrysler vans of the 1990s and early 2000s, which boasted sleek, smooth lines. The elegant styling continues to the sides, where you can order wheels up to 20 inches across for a more dramatic look. The Pacifica Hybrid offers a unique color palette and wheels, a different grille design and, of course, the charge port on the front-left fender.
While the new L trim is inexpensive, we’d recommend the LX that features a rearview camera, active grille shutters to aid fuel economy, heated outside mirrors, 17-inch aluminum wheels, 3-zone air conditioning, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert. Also standard are Stow 'n Go seating in the second row, and surprisingly, active noise cancellation. There's also a 7-inch touch-screen version of Uconnect that includes USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All new Pacifica models come standard with the 3.6-liter V6 engine, 9-speed automatic, an electric parking brake, and keyless entry with push-button. The Pacifica Hybrid models start at the Touring Plus level and feature much of the same equipment as their gasoline counterparts.
Power sliding doors, automatic climate control, bigger and better Uconnect systems with Wi-Fi, leather seating -- Nappa leather on the Limited -- and chrome exterior trim are all available at higher trim levels on the Pacifica. Option packages include a 20-speaker harman/kardon audio system for Touring-L Plus and Limited models, an Advanced SafetyTec group that includes lane-departure warning plus, forward-collision warning plus, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera system, and the kid-occupying goodness of Uconnect Theater. Pacifica Hybrid models start at the Touring Plus and move up to Limited, which is mostly analogous to the gasoline-powered Limited, with a panoramic sunroof being the only stand-alone option.
Standard Pacifica models get a 3.6-liter V6 engine and 9-speed automatic transmission powering the front wheels, with 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful minivans you can buy. But fuel efficiency still matches the Honda Odyssey on the highway and in combined scores, and is just one mpg behind in the city. The engine is a gem, delivering smooth power across its rev range, and it even sounds good doing it. The 9-speed automatic shifts smoothly at cruise, going up and down hills, or at full throttle. Pacifica Hybrid models get a version of the same engine designed to run on a more fuel-friendly Atkinson-cycle engine plus two electric motors for a combined output of 260 horsepower. 3.6-liter V6 287 horsepower @ 6,400 rpm 262 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 18/28 mpg 3.6-liter V6/dual-electric motors, 16kWh battery 260 total system horsepower EPA city/highway combined fuel economy: 32 mpg/84 MPGe Battery-only range on a full charge: 33 miles
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica L starts competitively with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) just over $ 28,000 including the $ 1,095 destination charge. The LX starts about $ 1,800 more, however we think the Touring is a better bet, thanks to power sliding doors and other features for around $ 33,300. The Pacifica Touring-L (around $ 36,600) and Touring-L Plus (around $ 39,800) add equipment like leather seats, and the Pacifica Limited (around $ 44,800) adds even more. The Pacifica Hybrid Touring Plus starts just under $ 44,000 and moves up from there, but note that the federal tax break knocks $ 7,500 off the hybrid’s price, making it a surprisingly good deal. Even though options can push the price of a Pacifica Limited to well over the $ 45,000 mark, it's still competitive against the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Kia Sedona. Be sure to check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to see what others are paying in your area. As far as holding its resale value goes, the Pacifica is a strong player, not quite up to the levels of the Odyssey or Sienna, but on par with the Nissan Quest and healthier than the rest of the pack.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica gains a boldly styled exterior and a highly new functional interior along with refined engines.
In terms of genesis, Chrysler is almost synonymous with an unwanted premature detonation. Amidst the depression of 1921 and the great collapse of 1929, when most car producers were facing extinction due to drastic decrease in sales, lack of resources and investors, a small company would try to make its way to the auto shows and into the American citizens' garages. Despite the economic meltdown that drove investors away and locked-down companies faster than a second Ice Age, the US auto market was mainly divided among two powers: the ever expanding GM and Ford.
The sum of such horrific conditions would have normally drove away contenders, but Walter P. Chrysler thought otherwise. Determined to get an equally slice of the market share pizza for himself, he exhibited a handsome car at the 1924 New York Auto Show. The automobile was none other than the Chrysler 70, the model that would drag the Chrysler name to he Pantheon of American car builders.
However, Chrysler wasn't born as Chrysler (from the company's standpoint). Facing a rapid and possibly permanent dissolution, the two initial companies held by Walter P., Maxwell and Chambers, merged to form a new entity that would later rub shoulders with its competitors at the time. The 70 model had an instant success that allowed the newly formed corporation to expand freely, unabated by the competition's efforts and much wider rage of automobiles.
The Chambers name was dropped, whist Maxwell was re-branded as a Plymouth. By 1931, the Plymouth brand had already become a fierce competitor in the small car segment and was insistently knocking on Ford stronghold's door, yelling to make room or evict the place. Although Ford was basically partying due to the high sales registered by their model A, the more advanced Plymouth did far better. Sporting hydraulic brakes, more flowing body lines and a “floating power”engine, the Plymouth cast an awfully large cloud of doubt over Ford's headquarters.
The improvements brought by the Plymouth became so popular that other producers started using them as well. Citroen would later use Chrysler's patented “floating engine” technology that had the great advantage of reducing engine vibrations through the use of three rubber mounts that separated the engine from having direct contact with the chassis.
Chrysler did so good the following years that by the end of the 30's it had already surpassed Ford and moved to a comfortable second position. Almost unknowingly, Chrysler became a titan. The time to wrestle the no. 1 car manufacturer was near and Chrysler carefully readied its match.
However, what was designed as a model of crushing beauty was not well received by the American public. The 1934 Airflow model, a gorgeous curvy sparkling beauty failed to make an impact and consequently sales dropped faster than CBS dropped “The Will”.
Funnily enough, the public was not touched by a car that was way ahead of its time, at least as far as the bodywork was concerned. However, poor sales were efficiently countered once Chrysler released the Imperial model. Large, powerful and luxurious, it was an instant hit and catered for the need of a stand-out motorized social status statement, as well as a reliable day to day ride.
As soon as World War II was over Chrysler had entered a sales numbness, focusing more on research and engineering improvements rather than holding the company's position as a top car industry leader. The post WW II days brought along some significant changes in auto design and shape, with a legendary tail fin craze initiated by Ford and GM.
In response to the existing trends, Chrysler's automobiles became longer and wider and sacrificed performance and reliability for looks. This happened because of a shift in the consumers' perspective who came to prefer style and exterior features over practicality and quality. The by know well established Chrysler products were removed to make way for a new range of flashy cars that failed to climb to the height of the precedent line-up. In doing so, Chrysler was pushed back to the third place once more.
By the beginning of the 60's, Chrysler made a comeback with the introduction of the spectacularly enduring, fast and well balanced 300-F. Though some drivers complained about the vehicle's great size, its performance was hard if not impossible to contest. The machine could develop 400 hp and its acceleration was phenomenal.
Once the modern times arrived, Chrysler proved its versatility and changed once with the automotive industry, delivering quality vehicles for an ever increasing mass of enthusiasts. Models such as the Sebring, 300M, 300C and PT Cruiser, a vehicle conceived as a blend of modern technology and retro style elements, managed to keep Chrysler among the top choices within US borders. Unlike other American car brands, such as Cadillac, Buick or Lincoln, Chrysler has received a great deal of attention overseas as well. During the 90's, the company merged with Daimler-Benz AG and formed Daimler Chrysler, which is currently a world leader in transportation.
2018 Chrysler Pacifica Consumer Reviews
craftyking,
After 3 years, looking to be a two-Pacifica family
Our '18 Touring L+ is our FIFTH Chrysler minivan and our second with Sto 'n Go. All have served our family very well. We don't need a minivan for hauling the kids anymore because they have all grown and moved on, but even as empty nesters we still much prefer the minivan. The Pacifica has lots going for it, much of which you already know. Here are a few "Likes" or "Pros" you may not hear much about. In comparison to other brands, we like that the Pacifica: uses Regular 87 octane gas; has a timing chain instead of a timing belt (so no need to spend almost $1,000 to replace the belt at 120k miles); does not burn oil between the 10k mile interval oil changes; has the oil filter on the top of the engine, so no need to crawl under the vehicle to service; has a wide enough dip stick to use most oil vacuum extraction pumps for DIY oil changes; has handling that rivals some European brands; has 8-way power driver AND front passenger seats (Touring L+ and up); has excellent paint (the early problem with bubbling paint on the leading edge of the hood has been solved); has gotten up to 34 mpg on the highway; and, well, it just looks good.
Another odd "Like" or "Pro" is that our Pacifica is perfect for taking our two golden retrievers on road trips. They absolutely love riding in it, so much so that it is sometimes difficult to get them out! Another odd "Like" we have is the "Off" switch for all of the interior lights when we have the sliders and tailgate open all day at canine competitions (have had to help jump Subarus and others that don't have this feature). Our model has the pull-up screens on the sliding doors and third row windows. We have the kennels side-by-side just behind the driver and passenger seats above the stowed second row.
Things in the negative column include: transmission gears may not be manually selected, snow collects and turns to blocks on ice against the fender liner behind the front tires (but melts eventually), the vehicle sits too low to pull it up onto my ramps (thus my purchase of an vacuum oil extractor), and it does all kinds of weird unexplainable things when the 12-volt battery starts getting drawn down. For that last one, I bought a battery tender that I plug in about every month (highly recommend everyone have one, especially with these newer power-hungry vehicles). Perfect now.
Our '18 Pacifica is mostly my wife's daily ride. My 14-year old ride doesn't have the safety features of her Pacifica, like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors or the 360-degree camera. At my age I could really use them, so I'm going to buy a 2022 Pacifica L AWD when available. Yes, I've looked at the competition, but dollar for dollar the Chrysler Pacifica comes out ahead. Highly recommend the Touring L trim level if it fits budget.
mercifultuesday,
Most things have broken
Since we purchased this vehicle many of the features have broken.
1. Had to replace both batteries in about a year. Several hundred dollars.
2. Transmission is clunky
3. Back lift is defective
4. UConnect system is a pile of garbage that is constantly faulty
5. Backup camera is a blue screen now.
Each repair is a ripoff and Chrysler refuses to take responsibility. Like the concept of this car but it is too unreliable.
I also tested the model with lane assist and automatic parking at the dealer. Every time I actually tested these features, the salesman had to grab the wheel from me before we ended up in a crash. Didn’t seem like I should trust their sensors to correctly ID lanes or proximity to other vehicles.
I will say the automatic breaking has been pretty solid and reliable.

Great Vehicle and Best Minivan Ever!
My wife said she would never drive a minivan and previously had a Lincoln Navigator, which we both loved and with 3 kids it was worked but with 4 kids and two strollers it was not nearly as convenient as the Pacifica. After looking at the Pacifica it was nice enough to convince her to buy a minivan. We have owned it for two years now and still love it!
We have the Pacifica Limited with all the options and with a $51k MSRP it has everything you would get in an $80k plus SUV plus the Pacifica is much easier to get young kids in and out of. The car drives great, very comfortable, has all the features you could ask for (full glass roof, heated/cooled seats, dual rear screens, adaptive CC, self parking, etc), and is very practical and roomy. We do full synthetic oil changes and have had no problems so far its been very reliable.
The rear screens are great for the kids they can each have headphones and on side can watch a movie, the other screen can play games and we can listen to the radio all at the same time. The kids can even play interactive games with each other on the two rear screens! Yes, it might be a minivan but look at the picture, it is an attractive car!
radiationhig,
I love this car!
Have had my Pacifica for about 2 years. GREAT car! Really wonderful for trips, super well designed, and no mechanical problems. One of the best cars I have ever owned! Very driver friendly and feels super safe.

EXCELLENT VEHICLE
After reading reviews from some owners of the 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, I decided to write a review on my PACIFICA. I read reviews from a number of owners who had both some major and minor issues with their PACIFICA. After owning my 2018 PACIFICA for 18 months I have had no negative issues with the car. It now has around 14,000 miles on it, has been back to the dealer only once and that was for an oil change. We have owned mini-vans for nearly 20 years and have owned both the HONDA ODDYSEY and the TOYOTA SIENNA. Both were excellent vehicles. Once, a number of years ago, we rode in a CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUINTRY. I felt it was a piece of junk! It took awhile for me to even consider looking at the CHRYSLER PACIFICA. We chose our PACIFICA with the ELITE TRIM, maroon in color, with the white leather interior. It has all of the safety features and options that we could possibly need. A couple of weeks ago, we drove from Wisconsin to our winter home in Florida, and according to the onboard computer during the 1,450 mile trip, we averaged 17.5 mpg and that was driving between 75 and 80 mph. The Stow and Go second row rear seats are excellent. I personally think that CHRYSLER took all of the best features from the HONDA and the TOYOTA and incorporated them into the PACIFICA. I received a fair trade-in price for my TOYOTA SIENNA, plus I received nearly $5,000.00 in factory rebates and incentives. I would recommend anyone considering a new mini-van to check out the PACIFICA.
schoolsunkindness,
Sold an Odyssey
Traded in a 2016 Honda after several test drives of the new Pacifica. We were not even looking to buy a new car, just stopped in a dealer looking for something to do on a rainy evening. The handling, power, comfort and overall features were just better than the Honda at the time. We loved our Honda, until we drove the Pacifica. Like many we were brainwashed to own the Honda or Toyota, but after having the car now for 2 years I can say that it is the van to own. Recently I Drove the 2019 Odyssey, and while it is nice I think the Pacifica is just better. Plus the Pacifica is just a better looking Van.
Important to note: we took it in under warranty twice, interior trim piece kept coming undone do to a smashed metal clip and rear tire developed a bubble on the sidewall. Chrysler Warranty service has been outstanding, replaced tire and fixed clip no questions asked, gave us a loaner van while they did it.
portbillet,
Nice car, if you like ‘normal’ noises
By far the best looking minivan, but this is just not the tight ship one gets from the two other major brands. I have strange noises coming from the front drive train and a creaking suspension. It’s only a year old! And the dealers say they are normal sounds...take that as a great sign of reliability - Yeah, right! Oh, and good luck getting the defrost/defog to work in this. I’ve had to pull over due to such bad visibility. And the air is moist and rancid smelling. Yet again, the dealer says this is performing as expected. Unbelievable. Technology-wise I give it 2 stars. The screen interface is just ok, it’s main issue is glitches. The backup camera would not work from time to time, volume would get stuck, screens would jump back and forth, sometimes the entire interface will simply reset itself mid-drive. Talk about a distraction.
So, in essence, it’s a nice van, but there are a lot of distractions and issues that equate to suffering value. I certainly won’t be buying this brand again. (During one of my four visits to the dealer we tried another Pacifica for noises - it didn’t have the same ones...it whined during acceleration. Yes, a high pitched audible sound! Maybe they exhibit empathy.)
favouritedisband,
Junk
This car has nothing but recalls. Transmission jolts and suppose to be normal. It is a horrible car
charityanchor,
Fantastic car! So comfortable, no issues/problems
So comfortable! Great car in every respect. I've owned other mini-vans before, and this one is heads above all the others. Fantastic for road trips. No mechanical or other problems at all in 20,000 miles -- just oil changes. Great design is very driver friendly!! Also super quiet on the freeway as well!
tactiletheme,
Wow what a superior vehicle!
I could go on and on about what a great vehicle this is in every way! Simply put 65,000 miles already and only oil changes and tire rotation/replacement! Never has given us a seconds trouble and we drive it HARD! Chrysler outdid themselves with this Vehicle so much so we bought two of them and they both have been perfect!
shirleyglazing,
Best Minivan you can get for 2017 and 2018
Owned multiple Jeeps and town and country for the past 10 years. I never had any major issues with Chrysler products. My experience with this Pacifica limited is absolutely positive.
Style. Its so god looking. Mine is matellic grey with 20 inch wheels and 3 panel roof and front camera. These elements result in a very dynamic and a quite aggressive body style that makes the minivan somehow looks like a crossover/SUV. I got a lot of compliments about the look of the van.
Interior. Almost top notch. I would give it 9.5 out of 10. In the driver seat, you feel like youare sitting in a luxury European SUV. The two tone steering wheel is so up to the current European design trend. The dial tranny also gives the control dash a modern European touch. Most of the parts in the front are high quality material although some cheap hard plastics are still being used and shown such as the lower door panel ( area under the door arm rest), the storage console and drawers etc. Nappa leather seat with proliferated insert is good although I prefer full Nappa leather seats which are softer and huggie. The driver and passenger seats received the same multiways control with 4 ways lumber supports. This is a very good features and hardly found innJapanese models.
The second and third rows are spacious and look and feel high end. The folding dual touch screens are tastefully placed behind the front seats which makes the minivan interior more in alignment with the luxury carsmedia placement. That further enhances the elegance of the interior of this minivan and set it apart from the competition as the competitions stuck with the traditional minivan overhead screens. Both second row passeagers will have control of the back climate thru their own touch screen. The right second row passenger has an option to control th climate using the LED module on top of the right sliding door. Heated second row seats are standard. Seats are comfortable in general and supportive enough for long trip.
The power third row with recline buttons also set this van a level higher than the 2018 odyssey in term of the third row feature. He third row is very comfortable and the leg room is great . A 5-10/5-11 adult had no problem to have a long ride in ge third row.
Features:
Highlighted features were covered the spec sheet so I do t need to repeat. But a few things are worth to mention here...
1. The placement of the vacuum allows the vaccum reach the entire van easily.
2. The new stow and go system slow one hand operation without removing the carpet. The one touch front seats slide up feature is brilliant which saves a lot of time when I need to stow the second row.
3. Uconnect system is still the best system I have used. I used the Japanese systems, ( Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and other American makers systems ( Ford and Chevy), Uconnect is still the easiest and most user friendly.
4. Start and Stop was designed and handled very well. Better than the BMWs for sure.
Ride comfort is 9/10. It is a super comfortable vehicle even with the 20 inches wheels. The wheels suspension system absorbs the almost all bumps and road imperfections
Cabinet is also extremely quiet. I guess it proves the effectiveness of the acoustic windows and windshield, active noise cancellation, well insulated engine compartment, wheel wells, undercar cover and aerodynamic of the body.
Performance. Its such an enjoyable driving experience. Its smooth, tranny and engine are quiet and able to deliver. The only two concerns are, no shifting paddles and it still a little reluctant than necessary to down shift when accelerate hard going uphill. Well...shifting paddles would solve the problem.
Overall, you get a super value for the money you pay. I would suggest to load all possible options to the limited version ( except wireless charging) to max the fun, look and value of the minivan.
Things that are missing:
AWD
Shifting paddles
Full Napa seat
Heads up display
Directional headlights
Leather door panels and dash panel.
Second row seats should be able to slide front and back.
A little better carpeting materials
I would recommend this minivan
cocoillegal,
Great vehicle for road trips!
We have had our Pacifica for 15 months. During that time it has been back and forth from our home in MN to our Florida destination. This is a wonderful vehicle for traveling. The stow and go seats provide great flexibility. It handles well and has very comfortable seats. It is a very refined vehicle that gets great gas mileage. On our road trips we get close to 30 miles per gallon at interstate speeds. We have the safety tech package, which we feel is a great safety enhancement. We have had no service issues since we purchased it. Routine maintenance at Chrysler dealerships is much less expensive than what we experienced at Lexus dealerships with previously owned RX350s. Our only regret is the lack of an AWD option.
effectivetelling,
Very nice van but
Very nice van but whoever picks their color schemes needs to be fired. Lousiest selection of color schemes in a car that I have seen in 40 years. And black leather seats in the summer, give me a break. Besides not liking that color, this 75 year old body cant handle that. Was a 20 year owner of Town and Countrys but settled for a Toyota Sienna simply because of the colors this time and actual think the seats are a tad more comfortable.

"Never again"
Stranded twice on this new van. First battery died. Then radiator cap defective so it release antifreeze and van overheats. Stranded on side of highway both times with my family. I used to own three different HONDA odyssey and never stranded like this. I owned a previous Chrysler product twenty years ago and it was a lemon. Stranded me 6 times before I had to trade it at huge loss. This van is a lease so I have to deal with it. To boot, the dealerships are just not helpful or just don’t care.
