Just as in years past, the Nissan Murano is a pleasant and versatile five-passenger midsize crossover. But with this year's redesign, it's also more stylish and luxurious. The 2015 Murano is a smart choice if you want an upscale, V6-powered crossover without having to step up to a luxury brand.

We've been impressed with the Nissan Murano ever since its debut way back in 2003. One of the first crossover SUVs, it stood out for its combination of stylish looks, roomy five-passenger seating, and power and handling characteristics that were more sport sedan than sport-utility. Since then, dozens of crossovers have followed from almost all automakers. That larger crowd makes it harder for the 2015 Nissan Murano to stand out, but this is still one crossover you'll want to check out.

Just as it did with the original, Nissan is taking some risks with the new Murano's styling. Bold and futuristic, the 2015 Murano's sporty and swoopy lines are highlighted by a "floating" roof that creates the illusion that the rear roof section is supported only by glass. Along with prominent chrome accents and distinctive winged headlights, the Murano brings a welcome dose of style to a class of vehicle that is still at its core about practicality.

There is still plenty of practicality in the new Murano, though. It's a little bigger than last year's model, and the added space provides more room for passengers and their cargo. Nissan's "Zero Gravity" seats also make their debut on the 2015 Murano. They provide great support for reduced fatigue on long drives, and in the Murano you get them not just for front occupants, but rear (outboard) passengers as well. All occupants are surrounded by quality materials and the latest in technology and safety features. Nissan's three-row Pathfinder might offer more room for a similar price, but the Murano is certainly nicer.

Nissan has softened the Murano's suspension tuning this year, biasing this crossover more for comfort than has been the case in the past. While the new Murano isn't as much fun to drive as before, the ride quality is certainly smooth and quiet. Largely unchanged are the Murano's 260-horsepower V6 engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT), but fuel economy is better this year.

That sole V6 might still be a small drawback if you want other options under the hood. Notably, the redesigned 2015 Ford Edge, which is the Murano's closest competitor, offers a range of engines that are either more fuel-efficient or more powerful. If you want some added off-road or towing ability, the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee would be a better choice. Or, if you're willing to spend more money, you might also want to look at the 2015 Lexus RX 350 or 2015 Volkswagen Touareg. Overall, though, we like the newest Murano and its mix of style, practicality and luxury.

The 2015 Nissan Murano is a midsize crossover SUV offered in four trim levels: S, SV, SL and Platinum. Each can be had with front- or all-wheel drive.

Standard equipment on the S includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, dual-zone automatic climate control and cruise control. Electronics and entertainment features include Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a 7-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, smartphone app integration and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary input jack and a USB port with an iPod interface.

The S model is offered with an optional Navigation package that consists of an 8-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, a navigation system and HD radio.

The SV model gets all the equipment in the Navigation package, plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, foglights, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat (with power lumbar adjustment) and a four-way power front passenger seat. An optional Premium package for the SV adds a panoramic sunroof and an 11-speaker Bose audio system.

Going with the SL model gets you the Bose audio system as standard and further adds heated outside mirrors, driver memory settings, a blind spot warning system, rear cross-traffic alerts, leather upholstery, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 360-degree parking camera system, ambient interior lighting and a power liftgate.

The top-line Murano Platinum is loaded with the above, plus a power tilt-and-telescoping heated steering wheel, 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats and power return rear seats.

The SL and Platinum are offered with a Technology package that includes a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control and a forward collision warning and crash mitigation system.

Powering the 2015 Nissan Murano is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 260 hp and 240 pound-feet of torque. A CVT is standard, and you can get the Murano with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Either way, EPA-estimated fuel economy stands at 24 mpg combined (21 city/28 highway), which is better than what you get from most competing crossover SUVs with V6 engines.

In acceleration testing, .com recorded a 7.5-second time to reach 60 mph that puts it at the top of the charts for front-wheel-drive midsize crossovers.

The 2015 Nissan Murano comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, hill-start assist, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, active front head restraints and a rearview camera.

In .com testing, a 2015 Murano Platinum with front-wheel drive required 117 feet to stop from 60 mph, a shorter than average distance for vehicles in its class.

The SL and Platinum models add blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems, as well as a 360-degree parking camera system that includes a moving-object detection feature that lights up quadrants of the around-view monitor and sounds a beep if people or objects are moving near the vehicle. Optional for these models is adaptive cruise control combined with a frontal-collision warning and mitigation system that can automatically apply the brakes to avoid or mitigate the severity of a frontal crash.

The 2015 Nissan Murano has traded earlier models' sporty character for a more luxurious ride. The ride is smooth, and ruts and potholes are never jarring, even with the Platinum model's 20-inch wheels. Despite a slight reduction in weight compared to the previous-generation model, though, the new Murano leans and feels less nimble around turns. While the steering is fairly light at low speeds, it has some reassuring heft as things pick up, but it isn't particularly direct or communicative. The new Murano is most at home just swallowing up miles on the interstate, and we suspect most car buyers will find its laidback personality easy to like.

The carry-over V6 engine is suitably powerful and works well with the CVT. While CVTs are often associated with increased engine drone during hard acceleration, this transmission acts more like a regular automatic and simulates gearshifts. That said, accelerating up to highway speeds or passing slower traffic with authority requires an aggressive right foot, and the V6 engine sounds a bit coarse in the process.

The seats might not be the first thing you notice when you hop in the Murano, but they will leave a lasting impression. Nissan calls them "Zero Gravity" seats because they are designed to contour to the position the body assumes in zero gravity. Here on 1-G Earth, we think they are among the finest seats on the market. They are especially supportive of the lower and mid back, and you'll find them both up front as well as for the two outboard rear seating positions.

The rest of the interior is also impressive. While we're not really sold on the woodlike trim, almost all of the other materials are soft to the touch and high in quality. The overall effect is certainly upscale, and the new Murano's larger size gives it an airy feeling. The Murano also gets Nissan's latest touchscreen interface. It is called Nissan Connect and it houses the available navigation system and offers smartphone app integration via owners' smartphones. We initially found the system had integration for just one app (Google search) but other Nissan models offer access to several apps, so improved functionality is sure to follow.

When it's time to haul stuff, the 2015 Murano is up to the task, with 39.6 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 69.9 cubic feet available with the rear seats folded flat. Those cargo room figures are competitive with rivals like the Ford Edge and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The more we drove the new Murano the more we liked it, so the “social lounge” positioning by Nissan might actually do the SUV a disservice. As a daily commuter, it was topnotch – comfortable, nimble in traffic, equipped with an easy-to-use infotainment/navigation system, and a breeze to park. The key sign that an interior is designed properly is that it never annoys you, and that is what we discovered in the Murano. The 3.5-liter V6 engine offers 260 horsepower, and it is accompanied by the Xtronic continuously variable automatic transmission with new “D-Step Logic” that gives you the impression that it is changing gears. Philosophically, some of us have difficulty understanding the desire to take power delivery that should be smooth and seamless and artificially create gear-change-like pauses, but in the 2015 Murano it feels perfectly natural and tames the weirdness that plagues some CVTs. Cornering is drama-free with reasonably high limits. The steering is fairly quick and precise, and the braking is conventionally good.

CONTROLS & INSTRUMENTATIONIn an era when vehicle displays and controls deliver more confusion than contentment, the new Murano SUV’s 7-inch customizable display flanked by massive, round tachometer and speedometer readouts and the available 8-inch multi-touch control display is a welcome departure.PARKING WITHOUT PEERWith four onboard cameras, three radar systems and a computerized brain, the available Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection combined with Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Cross Traffic Alert creates a parking system in which the driver is the weakest link.

The new Murano’s interior is the soul of the vehicle, beginning with comfortable (dare I say lavish?) seating in the form of Nissan’s “zero gravity” seats in all four outboard seating positions. This demonstrates quite clearly that the Murano SUV is designed to transport two adult couples, and that notion is reinforced by the addition of a rear USB port that enables the rear-seat passengers to hook up a portable music device. Natural light comes courtesy of the massive available panoramic roof, which is larger than the 2-panel roof in the previous-edition Murano. The emphasis on providing the right accommodations for two couples extends to the rear cargo area that offers an enormous 39.6-cubic-foot area with the second row of seats in place (room for four golf bags, for instance) and nearly 70 cubic feet with the rear seatback folded down.

The exterior of the Murano screams, “Look at me,” and the design is filled with showy aspects like the “floating” roof, “boomerang” headlights and taillights, and body sides so heavily curved that they presented challenges in the creation of the stamping tools that make them. With a coefficient of drag of 0.31, the 2015 Murano was also sculpted with an eye on fuel economy, and the lower grille shutter, front and rear spoilers, rear tire deflectors, rear suspension fairings, and even what Nissan describes as an “optimized” fuel tank design, all found their way into the production vehicle to help the SUV establish an impressive fuel economy number.

Standard interior niceties include dual-zone automatic temperature control, the cushy zero-gravity seats and Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition. Nissan’s Advanced Drive-Assist Display, which incorporates a 7-inch high-resolution color readout, is also on the standards list. On the safety front, the new Murano is particularly well-equipped with an advanced airbag system that features dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seatbelt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor, front-seat mounted side-impact supplemental airbags, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags with a rollover sensor, and a driver supplemental knee airbag.

While the base Murano S version is well-equipped, we expect most buyers of the Murano to climb the trim-level food chain because of the desirability of the additional features. Next up from the S is the Murano SV with navigation delivered on an 8-inch color monitor with multi-touch control, power-adjusted front passenger seats, remote engine start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights and roof rails. Moving to the SL nets you leather seats, Bose audio with 11 speakers including two subwoofers, Blind Spot Warning, and the terrific Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, among other goodies. The zooty Platinum edition has all the available electronic equipment we’ve spoken of plus 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and a power-folding second row. Each trim level is available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The only engine is the familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine that offers 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. It has received a re-tuning for the new model, and even more changes were made to the Xtronic continuously variable transmission that now has new “D-Step Logic.” A happy result of aerodynamics, weight reduction and drivetrain tweaking is 20-percent-better fuel economy than in the previous Murano at 21 city/28 highway/24 combined for both front-drive and all-wheel-drive SUV models.3.5-liter V6260 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm240 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpmEPA city/highway fuel economy: 21/28 mpg (FWD), 21/28 mpg (AWD)

As the most highly styled of the midsize crossover SUVs, the new Murano is in many ways a less expensive alternative to luxury crossovers like the wildly popular Lexus RX and the Cadillac SRX. Its most logical competitor is the Ford Edge, which takes its styling in a completely different direction. At the writing, it is too soon to determine a Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for the 2015 Nissan Murano, but we expect its pricing to be in line with that of the Edge and with other midsize SUVs in general. We also project a higher-than-average resale value for the Murano over time versus its domestic and Korean nameplate competitors.

2015 Nissan Murano Previous Generations

2015 Nissan Murano Future Generations

Nissan Murano Overview and History

The third generation Nissan Murano debuted at the 2014 LA Auto Show, coming with more style, added luxury as well as new technology. Taking the model's symbolic glass-blower prestige a step further, the new Murano delivers a surprisingly generous package of looks, performance and luxury.
Known by many names, this major Asian conglomerate has been making cars since 1914. Today, Nissan is the third largest automaker in Japan. The Nissan Motor Company took over the Datsun company in 1933 and in 1934 it would take on the name we all know today.

The first Datsun passenger car came off the assembly line in 1935 and pretty soon Nissan started exporting to Australia. In 1937 the Datsun Type 15 becomes the first mass-produced vehicle in Japan, which also comes in mini-pickup and delivery van form.

Ever expanding the production, Nissan decides to expand into the United States. This move from 1958 was made due to the American influence Nissan had thanks to its designer, William R. Gorham. The models exported to the US were 1200 Sedans with a 48 hp engine, a compact pickup with 37 hp which later became a top seller during the 50s.

By the time the 60s rolled in Nissan had already made a name for itself on both sides of the Pacific. Now, the company moves into another part of the market, starting to sell sport cars. At first, it would be the SPL 210, a narrow, high roadster had a folding soft top and a 48hp engine, soon upgraded to a 85hp version.

Catering for the American market, Nissan introduces the Bluebird, with synchronized 3-speed transmission in 1962. In the off-road sector, the Patrol is debuted, with a generous amount of horsepower, that was marketed as being able “to climb trees”. In 1967 the 2000 Roadster is let loose upon the unsuspecting public and onto the racing world which it takes by storm.

The sporty line is continued in the 70s with the “Z” line, one still continued today. The 1970 240Z becomes the best selling sports car in the world by offering quality and comfort at an affordable price. Sales in America start taking off until eventually, in 1975, Datsun becomes the number 1 importer in the States.

Nissan starts expanding during the 80s in order to keep up with demand and opens up new factories. And just when everyone thought that Nissan couldn't get any bigger, along comes a whole new brand of Nissan, one aimed at a more luxurious segment of the market, Infiniti. In 1989, as the Infiniti project getting off the ground, parent company Nissan was celebrating its millionth car built in the US.

As new plants get built throughout the 90s, new models are added to the line up to corner the market. The Altima sedan and the Sentra become front-runners as the best sold models in the Nissan line-up. Next, in 1999, it was time for the European market, Nissan signs an agreement with French manufacturer Renault to use each other's expertise and strengths.

In 2002, the Z concept is resurrected with the 350Z, a sporty car that quickly wins over car enthusiasts but specialists as well. The ewly-formed SUV market will also be represented in the Nissan line-up with the Murano. Now, the boys over at Nissan seem to have a real hard point to make as they've released the GTR, a super-sporty car, the crowning jewel of Nissan motoring and engineering.

2015 Nissan Murano Consumer Reviews

SL 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
First impressions
Just traded in 2011 murano for the new 2015 murano sl awd. This is a completely different suv. Much more comfortable seating and better set up of the dash and gauge arrangement. Living in Canada the roads are rough and full of potholes in the winter. The new murano soaks up the bumps much better then my 2011 did. With temperatures near -30 C this murano was still smooth and absorbed the harshest of road conditions this country has to offer. Heated seats and steering wheel a big plus. Great value for the buck.

Almost Great
My first ever Nissan - first ever foreign car as well. Just got tired of the unreliability and poor resale of domestics. Test drove and researched a number of crossovers, ultimately landing on the Murano, which wasn't even on my radar throughout most of my search. Have always liked the concept of the Murano, but never loved the styling. The new styling definitely caught my eye and sold me on the product. I receive a ton of compliments on the appearance of the vehicle. But on to the performance. Great car, fun to drive, reliable, all the things you would expect. KIds love the second row heated seats - and all the seats are very comfortable. Not a ton less cargo space than my much larger seeming Durango, but there does seem to be less useful storage space. Bottom line, great car, with really only two complaints. The smaller of which is the climate control - set at 70 on automatic it will blast full speed until it basically forces you to adjust the fan down (which puts it into manual mode) because it gets too cold. Second, and far more annoying complaint, is the navigation. This is the first car I have owned that has navigation and after using my phone as for this duty the past five years, it feels like I went back in time a solid decade. It is embarrassing how bad Nissan's navigation is. I tried using it a few times and went back to my phone - nothing about it is redeeming - it's inaccurate, not user friendly and it's cumbersome. It has to be the worst nav system on the market today. That said, it's a minor thing and everyone has a smart phone, so it's not a big deal. Why car companies can't contract with Google to do their mapping is beyond me, but I promise you, if you are used to using a phone to navigate, you will be sorely disappointed with what Nissan offers in this arena.

2015 Murano - The longer you live with it, the more you love it.
Absolutely excellent machine. Nissan has achieved (what is in the Canadian market) a superb value. The fact that you can cross shop a Ford Escape and a Nissan Murano says it all. There is simply no comparison for comfort, style, size and functionality. The Murano sits on the large end of the 2 row SUV scale offering more behind the second row storage than the Jeep Grand Cherokee. An impressive feet considering the Murano looks sleek and athletic by comparison. I'm 6'4" and 38 years old, this is my wife's car and replaced a 2005 Chrysler Pacific that wouldn't die soon enough. Well good thing it held off (it threw a rod eventually) because we would have missed out on owning a great car

LOVE MY MURANO
I have never written a review before on any website however I am so incredibly pleased I wanted to share my thoughts. I hope what I have to say helps you in your decision. I have had my 2015 Murano SL for a few weeks and I cant say enough about it. I actually came to this site and read the reviews and was not going to buy this car because of what people were saying about the gas mileage. I want you to know I have not seen it. I am getting 26 MPG. I had a Nissan Altima for 5 years and loved the car never a problem but I do drive a lot and the miles were getting high so it was time for a new car. I did a lot of research on which car I wanted to buy and looked at different brands. At the end of the day I decided to stay with Nissan because I had such good luck with my last car. My new purchase was between the Murano and the Maxima. They both have new styles and I love them both. I really wanted a smaller SUV vs. a car so that is why I leaned towards the Murano. OMG it is awesome!!!!. First the exterior is super stylish and boy do you get looks when you are driving this car. The interior is luxurious! The seats have memory foam in them and are very comfortable, the cabin is spacious, the car has every gadget you can think of and it is all at your finger tips. The cargo area in the back is plenty spacious even if you travel. The back seats recline as well a fold down. There are USB ports in the front and the back which is nice. You have memory seating for up to 2 people, you have auto start which is so nice in the winter time, the back hatch auto lifts, extra secret storage compartments in the cargo area, heated/cooled seats and the ride is so smooth. I looked at a lot of higher end cars, Lexus 350, ACURA MDX, RDX and BMW 3 and this car in my opinion out beats all of them in the interior. It matches all of the cars plus some. If I did have to say anything negative it is two very minor things. Cup holders in the front I wish one was a little bigger than the other and the visor I wish it had the extender, I can live without these because everything else is fabulous. This car is not cheap is it on the higher end, if you can afford it go with the Nissan Murano. You will not be disappointed. Good Luck with your purchase!
nervousmute,
Great, stylish, safe
Beautiful car. Fully loaded. . I love the birds eye view back up camera. It trips everyone out like how do they do that! My 2015 platinum has more special features than alot of the brand new 2021 vehicles. Blind spot monitoring with a beeper if you turn on your blinker. You can set your cruise to stay a certain distance behind vehicles and it will automatically adjust the speed. Air conditioned and heated seats. Heated steering wheel. Your passenger can change their heat or a/c so everyone is comfortable.

Best vehicle for the money
Bought 3yrs ago and it is a joy to drive and own. Drives better than most more expensive cars. Plenty of power.

Best valued automobile ever.
This vehicle has been repair free for 90,000 miles. Synthetic oil changes every 6000 and tire rotation only. Changed out original tires after 75k. The comfort and handling around town or on long trips is the best.

A warning for SunRoofs
I've enjoyed the 2015 Murano, 134000 miles worth! (Now upgrading to 2020) Thought a note should be set about the one downfall that caused Insurance to Total the vehicle. The Sunroof. There are 4 drains. They can become clogged. Insurance says Dealers/Maintainers should clean them. Dealer agrees, but they don't, you have to ask them to check or do it. All 4 of mine where clogged, I had no idea. Water leaked internally. Down the pillars. Damaged all curtain airbags and electronics. Under Carpet area ruined. Rust internally to frame, seat attachment areas. Unknown damage to electronic that ran through the insides. It wasn't noticed until the water had soaked through the headliner and pillar covers at those junctions, insurance adjuster estimated years worth of leakage, all internal. Otherwise, an excellent vehicle and I'd still be driving it today.

Outstanding seat comfort Murano 2015 Platium
I was looking at all the big SUV’s for back comfort but a salesman suggested sitting in there used Murano Platium, which was a wonderful surprise. We left there looking at only Murano Platiums. We found a new Platium 2015 after the 2016s came out and got a great deal. It is 1/20 and never had a problem. The mileage could be better but I have a 6 cylinder so that’s expected. Love the side light car indicator when car is next to me. This is a must to have!!! I am going to trade mine at the end of year and doubt there is another car seat more comfortable for my bad back.

Technology Package Design Flaw?
We have had 3 previous Nissans with no issues. Purchased our 2015 Murano SL in Aug 2018 with 28K miles on it from an independent dealer. It was a Nissan Lease return that was originally sold new 3 years and 1 week before our purchase. Within a couple of days of purchase, the Auto Brake light went off on the dash and neither the auto braking nor the cruise control would operate. Turning the car off reset the light and allowed us to use the features. We took the car to the Nissan dealership who inspected it and said the engine position sensor on one of the motor mounts was tripping the warning. The sensor is integrated into one of the motor mounts which the dealer said was wearing out and would cost $1100 to replace. The dealer said if we would have brought it in 2 weeks earlier it would have been covered under warranty (of course the car was stilled owned by Nissan Motor Credit at that time). This light only goes off after 20 to 30 minutes of driving, so a standard test drive may not reveal the problem. To make a long story short, I filed a complaint with Nissan USA stating they had a design problem in that the auto braking feature is a safety feature and integrating one of it's sensors into a part that is designed to wear out was a design flaw. After going back and forth with Nissan USA for several weeks, they decided not to assist in the repair or provide a new motor mount and told us we were on our own. The rep at Nissan USA acknowledged this is a known problem. Obviously, I am not happy with Nissan as this sensor should not have been mounted to the motor mount and their motor mounts should last longer than 28K miles. I have not replaced the motor mount as of yet because I feel at some point I feel this model will be recalled. In addition, this will be the last Nissan vehicle I ever own. I will be sticking with other more reliable brands from manufacturers who value my business. On a side note, I rented a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder two months ago while on a business trip and while driving it, the same light went off and the cruise control/auto braking stopped working. The two vehicles use the same drive train. This is not an isolated incident.
gongwood,
Great Car... Love it!!!
The car has been completely reliable with a high level of comfort. A very nice smooth ride, fabulous sound system, very comfortable seats.. Never a problem. It has too many features to mention. We plan to buy the same model pretty soon. I cannot say enough about this fabulous car.. My car was a Nissan Murano SL

Nice Vehicle
Its quiet, comfort and overall nice family vehicle. Its definitely not for the ones who like power, speed and performance.

Not made for long legs
Test drove the Nissan Murano, during test drive, we liked all the features and the way it handled. After purchasing, we took a 7,000 mile road trip, The seats were not comfortable, the leg room for the driver was cramped - like sitting in a box with nowhere to move or stretch. Also after few hours of driving, it felt like you were sitting on the ground. Turning radius is lacking, also, when making a left turn - looking to the right, the frame blocks the view of the driver. If driving short trips, or just around town not a bad car. Driving long trips - this is not the car. Last trip we opted for our older vehicle.
noggsboom,
It will get you there...
But don't expect to have any fun on the trip. There's not really anything wrong with the Murano, but it is utterly boring to drive. Yawn. I wish I had kept my old car.

Fun to drive
This car has been great. Lots of fun to drive. The transmission & handling is awesome.

Finally Happy A Year Later
I was shopping a car for myself a year ago and accidently came across Murano which was not even on my radar screen before that day. I was so attracted by the comfort and finish of the interior / seats that I made a kind of rush decision and bought Murano instead. The car has run smooth for 18,000 miles and comfortable like piloting a spaceship, but for a year, I have had a kind of regret for my rush decision not my original plan. I am shopping a car for wife now and test drove a BMW 535 xDrive (my wife's choice). I was so surprised when I set in the BMW. The sale person saw the surprise on my face and mistaken that I was awed by BMW. I was actually stunned by how primitive and noise its interior feels and how cumbersome its controls ( not touch screen??). If this is what BMW can offer, I am very happy with my Murano now, Finally, A year later.

Nothing short of phenomenal
We traded in our 2009 Traverse after our daughter graduated college and moved out, leaving us with one remaining teenager in our household. We no longer required a 3rd row and opted to downsize to a 2-row SUV. After test driving the Grand Cherokee, Acura RDX, Ford Edge and Murano, the Murano was the clear winner. We purchased a black Platinum model in December 2015 and got about $5,000 off the sticker price. This has been the best vehicle we've ever owned. First, the seats are the most comfortable I've ever experienced. We've taken a few long trips (>4 hours) and never became uncomfortable. The rear passengers get the same level of comfort, though those seats are only heated (not cooled like the front). The cameras and radar are terrific and make parking a breeze. There is ample power for acceleration and passing, and the CVT works quite well. I strongly recommend this to anyone considering a 2-row SUV. If you drive it, you'll want it.
cleaversculling,
Surprisingly good.
Good riding vehicle with fair noise suppression. Gas mileage has ranged from 22 to 33 mpg.

I personally loved this vehicle It has every thing in it you name it. Due to some family circumstances I am in need of a money this is a reason I selling it.

I AM IN LOVE WITH MY MURANO!
I went from an Acura MDX to the 2015 Murano SL. What a difference. I thought my Acura had luxury. Was I wrong! I was originally looking at a 2009 Murano, but after a recent car accident, I needed a car that was easy to drive. My Acura had very stiff and firm handling and was not easy to park. This car has everything and more!!! I opted for the SL, I did not find the Platinum necessary for the simple difference of 20 inch wheels and air conditioned seats. The Murano is the perfect height. You just slide right in and can adjust your seat, you don't have to climb up to get in. I have three kids, my boys jumped in for a test drive, the passenger seat was pushed way back and there was plenty of leg room. My son is 6 feet. Remote start for winter, automatic start, and an automatic lift gate. WOW! I didn't even know I had the automatic front brake sensor (or whatever its called) until my daughter came a little to close to a car at a higher speed than the car would have liked. I suffered a broken sternum and back and neck injuries in my accident and I can easily drive this car. FYI: I will not let my boy's drive it!
barberpickle,
Very comfy high tech ride!
We have had the Murano for only about 1,000 miles now but very impressed so far and I will update if anything changes. Highs: LED headlights are a must(they light up the entire road and sides in front of you so well it is almost like daylight!) Super comfortable in front and back. Love being able to remotely raise and lower seat backs. Perfect hight, no stepping up or down into vehicle. Design of the interior feels very high class and the large driver screen is fantastic(I can set navigation in driver screen while wife has main screen on entertainment for example). Acceleration is very adequate. I am actually enjoying the CVT transmission as it is so smooth and does a decent job replicating shift points. Handling has been very impressive, it corners more like a sedan(we have the platinum with 20" tires and I think that helps a lot and the ride isn't harsh at all. USB port in back not only for charging but allows you to select rear passenger device as the source of music(where else can you sit in the back and be in control). We are coming from a european car that is high maintenance so we are very excited about the excellent reliability of these SUV's Lows: Engine is a bit hoarse at hard acceleration. Cheaper feeling door handles(especially with how high end everything else is, these should be steel). Passenger seat should have more adjustments like driver's.
silverhelpless,
Definitely worth the $ $ $
One of the nicest Crossovers out there, in terms of looks and how it drives. Would recommend to anyone who needs a reliable setup(Port injected 3.5 lit V6 w/ CVT; the CVT is very smooth,no jerking as in other cars when upshifting/downshifting, plus it simulates an automatic trans). Port injected engine won't get clogged with carbon(had issues with previous VW car), so opted out for an older proven engine. So far so good, no issues..gas mileage is a bit low in city, 23mpg in heavy traffic, however, in hwy driving i've seen up to 33mpg, so hoping fo some good overall mileage.

Love it Murano Platinum
So far The best car I have ever owned. Love the ride love the front seats and there have been no complaints from those in the back. All the safety features are easily usable. The cameras once you get used to them make packing and backing up so much easier. The interior has no issues. What is the best is here in Fl we have Love bugs as they are called. These bugs are very damaging to the paint. The car came with a clear coating on the front that eliminates the damage those bugs can do. I have had Lexus, Cadillac, Acura and other owners say they wished they had look at the Murano
springsrock,
Awesome MidSize SUV !
Just purchased this Murano. Traded in a 2013 Altima. I will miss the MPG of the Altima, but the versatility of the Murano makes up for the lower MPGs. Really like the Nissan brand. Lots of interior room, great cargo space when the back seats are down. Interior reminds me of a cockpit, all the controls are easily accessible. Ride quality is better than expected. Plenty of power and above average MPGs, make this a great all around vehicle. I can't wait to take the Murano on a long distance trip! Too soon to rate the reliability.

Pretty But Drives Like a Cheap Car
I bought this Murano brand new after trading in my Cadillac CTS (luxury). I will say it has been quite an adjustment and I cannot wait to get rid of this Murano. This car is a looker for sure. However, I HATE the way it drives. I was unsure about the CVT when I purchased the vehicle. I drive in mild/medium traffic every day to and from work and the CVT makes for a very uncomfortable driving experience. Also, it appears to me Nissan is VERY behind with their technology. My Samsung Note cell phone seems to have trouble connecting with this car. The car will just randomly disconnect the bluetooth mid-conversation. I love the style of this car, the interior, and the engine. I just dislike how little technology is in the car as well as the CVT. Just some things to consider if you are used to more luxurious vehicles.
guapocolumn,
Very Uncomfortable Front Seats!
This is our second Murano. The front seats are very uncomfortable if your tall. The interior also seems cheaper than our 2011 Murano. Nice upgrade on the electronics. Unless they get more comfortable front seats this will be our last Murano.

When I get into this car I feel like a kid in a candy store. It came with more options than I expected and it handles like a dream.

Love this car!
This is my 4th Murano, and I can't say enough about the 2015! I traded in for the 2015 and the gas mileage is so much better. Love the turning radius, and the quick response in traffic. The new design is definitely a head turner! The ride is smooth and quiet, and the interior is beautiful. The seats are definitely comfortable and the design of the the Navigation package / radio is easier to manage. I give Nissan a thumbs up on this design!
alienlily,
Love this beautiful auto
This is my second Murano. It is better in every way than the previous 2010 model. Love the looks, outside and inside. Everything screams luxury car and it drives great. Nisssan has improved the CVT and it is now excellent. On one trip I got 32 MPG highway and the car is very comfortable. The safety features are wonderful, especially the front and back radar and cameras. The intelligent cruse control is amazing. Highly recommend the vehicle.
casuallythinning,
Stunning and elegant
This is my 3rd Murano. I couldn't wait for the new design to come out. Yes the body style is eye catching but the interior blew me away. So elegant and such a smooth ride. Incredible pick up and a great sound when you punch the peddle. I love driving it. I work in outside sales and I couldn't ask for a better vehicle. I am 6,2 and there is plenty of leg and head room. Often when other cars are full of hard plastic interior, the Murano's interior is beautifully stitched leather. I would have liked to see more elegant color options offered for their new design kick off. I own the Java SV and get a lot of compliments on the color. The GPS is supposedly the most up to date but it could not instruct me in small town areas I have traveled to in the past with other GPS systems. There is NOT one SUV that can compare when it comes to design, luxury, safety features, and reliability for the price. Its an incredible value. Every thing else I looked at it that came close to comparison was easily 10 grand more and up. I LOVE this car.
charityanchor,
Worth every penny, drives like a dream
I after 22 years in GM models switched to Nissan. I do not regret it. The 2015 Nissan Murano is so fun to drive. It is a dream on long trips and I was getting 28 MPG with A/C in PA mountains. The safety features and ease of the Nissan connect made it easy to operate on a long trip. The seats are so comfortable and the power is amazing without sacrificing gas mileage. It is easy to steer in tight spots and so easy to see out of. I would recommend this car. I have 2 kids and we went on a 10 day 800+ mile trip. We could pack everything in the back no problem. Many people on the trip would ask what it was, it looked so different. Exactly the reason I wanted it.
towelparsec,
Best car I ever had
Drive quality and impressions make this car stand tall in the SUV league. Bluetooth connectivity and lack of social media features(support on Nissan Connect) are on the low side but I am anticipating a firmware update would do the magic in near future.
leaderscab,
Excellent Choice
I wanted a Ford Edge. My wife wanted the Murano. When I drove the Murano the interior sold me (Platinum vs Titanium). Where the Edge is plastic & cluttered. The Murano is simple, and elegant. This was built for comfort. it runs great. Quick responsive. Must say after 500 miles the wife was right.
stararticle,
Well worth every penny and is a keeper.
I have had this car/truck/suv for about 10 days now and have driven it in a downpour, sunny weather, dirt and pavement and it is solid as a rock. We got the SL premium package since I wanted to have the latest in safety and push button start. The surround camera is a great device that lets you park right in the middle of your parking spot and at first I thought of it as a gimmick but it is really useful. The engine is well suited for the AWD and weight of the vehicle. The interior is spectacular, but stay away from the black. It is dull and has no "POP" to it. We have the beige and it is beautiful. I opted for the interior and exterior protection package since the interior will be hard to keep clean without it. I had it on my Fusion with a tan interior and it was worth the money. One person has had problems with the Nissan Connect but I have an I-Phone 6S and not a problem. It took awhile to download the contact list at the initial set up but after that it has worked like a dream. My Weather Tech front floor protectors arrived yesterday and are a perfect fit. I do not like to call them floor mats since they are so much more. You get the looks a vehicle 10K more with all the and bells and whistles for a great price. As I said in the review summary--worth every penny, if not more. The one strange thing about it though is you have to duck your head a little to get in. You would think there would be more head clearance. The panoramic sun roof does eat into your headroom but not so that you would notice. I am five feet nine inches and always have a baseball hat on and it is not a problem. So far that is the only down side. The infotainment system is easy to uses and the navigation system is perfect. As I said, it is a keeper.
agreecost,
Beware of Phone Connectivity
Nissan Advertises the 2015 Murano as a Social Media Hub(False Advertising) Only 1 APP works with Nissan Connect (Google Search) Phone Connectivity is Intermittent. I have an Android and my phone constantly disconnects, and each time it reconnects there is a delay in downloading of phone book, you can rarely use the text message feature because the phone constantly disconnecting. When spoke to Nissan they do recommend Android, because the IPhone you must connect via cord, the Bluetooth doesn't link well. Nissan should make sure Sales personnel are aware of this, that would have influenced my purchasing decision. Very frustrating!! If it wasn't for the Phone features, the Murano would be an absolute 10. Sleek interior and exterior. Smooth quiet ride!Gas mileage ok, for a V6 AWD. Hopefully Nissan will have a technology fix, but if you want to be connected while driving, make sure they plan to have a fix for the glitches!

2018 Nissan Murano
"Very happy with my Murano"
I've had my Murano over a year now so I figured I could give an honest review. I've had 3 previous Nissans and have never been disappointed with any of them. My Murano is no different. Gas mileage is good for the size of the vehicle (about 22 city/29 hwy). I'm able to get 2 car seats in the back with no issues. The interior is one of the things that sold me when I purchased it, I have the dark interior with the silver accents. Probably the biggest issue I have is the lack of AUX ports and lack of cup holders or even small cubby holes to use to place things like a phone or sunglasses. There seems to be a lot of wasted space that could have been used for that. The ride is comfortable and power is excellent. I have no issues getting on the freeway or passing someone. My husband who is 6' 2" able to fit no problem. And if we didn't have the car seats you could fit 3 ppl in the back seat. Cargo space is plentiful, I can have a stroller, suitcases & even an ice chest back there if I pack it right. When I purchased it I got a great deal as well. Paying the same for this as I did my previous Nissan Frontier. They worked with me so that the payment stayed the same so all in all no (major) complaints

2017 Nissan Murano
"Best New Car ever"
More pick up than any vehicle I have ever driven. Gets 30 mpg highway . 26 combined. Uses regular. Tires look like they’ll go another 25,000 miles. No recalls. Not one problem. Very comfortable ride. Looks very expensive but was reasonable.
