The 2006 Lincoln Mark LT is essentially a dressed-up Ford F-150. It's fine for those who want a truck with a different look. Otherwise, go with the F-150 King Ranch and save some cash.
The Lincoln Mark LT is actually Lincoln's second attempt at building a luxury pickup. Despite a few unique and interesting features, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood was panned for being a strange combination of overpriced and impractical. Moreover, many of us felt the Blackwood's cabin did not live up to its luxurious nameplate. For the 2006 model year, Lincoln is trying again with the more practical and stylish Mark LT. The Mark LT is essentially an F-150 but with some unique exterior styling cues. The Mark LT's interior is clean and contemporary-looking thanks mostly the redesigned F-150 that gives it such a great starting point. Power comes from the same 300-hp, 5.4-liter V8 that's available in the F-150, and that means the Lincoln truck is just as capable in terms of hauling and towing.
The Lincoln Mark LT offers a smooth ride and can be ordered with such options as a rear-seat DVD-based entertainment system, a premium audio system, power-adjustable pedals, rear parking sensors and a power moonroof. Unfortunately, features such as power-folding side mirrors, satellite radio, a navigation system and an emergency communications system are not available. We feel that as a competitor to luxury trucks like Cadillac's Escalade EXT, the Lincoln truck falls short in terms of features, comfort and options. However, Lincoln's new luxury model does deliver in one crucial area: price. The base 2006 Lincoln Mark LT is significantly less expensive than the cheapest Escalade. Those shoppers wanting something a bit different from a commonplace F-150 should come away from the Lincoln dealership satisfied.
The Lincoln Mark LT is available only as a crew-cab pickup with a 5.5-foot bed. Based on the F-150, it differs mainly in its cosmetic upgrades. There is only one trim level available. Standard features include leather seating, wood trim, heated front seats, keyless entry and a premium audio system with an in-dash, MP3-compatible CD changer. Options include a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, a power-operated rear window, power-adjustable pedals, rear parking sensors, chromed 18-inch wheels, chromed bed-rail caps and running boards. The Mark LT also benefits from Lincoln's longer basic warranty, 4 years and 50,000 miles, compared to the F-150's basic 3-year/36,000-mile program.
All Mark LTs come with a 5.4-liter, 300-hp V8. That engine has 24 valves and features variable valve timing. It makes 365 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm. Two- and four-wheel-drive variants are available, and all Lincoln Mark LT pickups have a four speed automatic transmission. The Mark LT gets from zero to 60 mph in 10.3 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 17.3 seconds. Properly equipped, a two-wheel-drive Mark LT can tow 8,900 pounds.
Standard safety equipment includes four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. There are also turn indicators housed in the exterior mirrors and three-point seatbelts for all seating positions. Unfortunately, you can't get side airbags or stability control. Crash tests have not been performed on the Lincoln Mark LT, but its F-150 sibling earned perfect marks in government tests and "Best Pick" status from the IIHS.
On the road, Lincoln's pickup feels almost exactly like an F-150, which is a good thing. The 5.4-liter V8 lacks the low-end grunt of competitors' V8s but almost makes up for that deficiency with its smooth, quiet power delivery. Suspension tuning is softer than the F-150's, resulting in a smooth and comfortable highway ride. Handling is not as nimble as the Ford's, however. Brake pedal feel is only so-so, but the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT stops short for a 5,600-pound vehicle.
The Mark LT's roomy interior seats five. Although luxurious, it is not substantially different than an F-150 King Ranch. The seats are comfortable and come with contrasting colored piping similar to the style of the Range Rover. The gauges are chrome-trimmed and incorporate the Lincoln logo. To lend an upscale look to the cabin, Lincoln designers dressed up the dash with faux wood trim and leather. The leather trim on the dash, steering wheel and shifter is especially nice as the exposed stitching adds an extra element of luxury.
In production between 2005 and 2008, the Mark LT is a luxury full-size pickup truck powered by a 5.4L V8 electronic injection petrol engine rated at 300
HP
and 365.1 lb. ft. of torque. Based on the Ford P2 platform, the Mark LT offered rear-wheel drive, automatic, 4-speed transmission and all round ventilated discs as standard features. Optionally, the Mark LT could be fitted with all-wheel drive.
Lincoln sprung as an independent luxury-car producer in 1917. Founded by engineering whiz Henry M. Leland after his departure from Cadillac, which he had helped co-found, the company was named Lincoln as a reminder of the admiration Leland bore for the now defunct state-leader. In a macabre coincidence, president JFK was assassinated just like Abraham Lincoln was. At the time of his death, JFK was being driven in a Lincoln Continental limousine.
However, before such drama occurred, Lincoln was a fairly small company that supplied Liberty aircraft engines for the Army during WWI. Having teamed up with son Wilfred, Leland converted his factory to manufacturing luxury automobiles right after the war. Despite Leland's skill and potential of his vehicles, the factory encountered several design-related obstacles and financial trouble that could not be overcome. Forced into bankruptcy, Leland sold his company to Ford in 1922 for $ 8 million.
Soon after the Ford takeover, Lincoln's first series of automobiles would enter mass production. Under Ford, Lincoln's styling problems were solved as were the financial issues experimented before. Little changes or none were made to Leland's original engines. Coupled with production cost cuts, this would allow the company to toll out some 5,500 vehicles in December, 1922.
As of 1923, newer body styles appeared, many of them having been the result of partnerships with coachbuilders such as Fleetwood and Brunn. This lead to the appearance of a diversified range of vehicles comprised of large sedans and limousines that could accommodate as many as 7 passengers. Despite the fairly big price tags these special coach-built vehicles came with, Lincoln sales did not plummet. They did just the contrary, registering a spectacular 45% increase over the previous years with 7,875 vehicles sold.
The 1924's brought forth the release of the famous Flyers that were extensively used by US Police Departments. The cars premiered some features that weren't introduced on private models until 2 years after. Two wheel disc breaks, weapon racks, armored windows and Police whistles were among the many 'accessories' Flyers came equipped with.
Probably the most famous car ever made by Lincoln sprouted in 1932 Eugene T. “Bob” Gregorie's drawing board. The later release of the Zephyr in 1936 smashed open the gates for the release of the Continental. The latter was actually a modified 1938 Zephyr Coupe whom Gregorie had sectioned and added a vertical tire mount to. The car became so successful that it sold in over 5000 units until production halted in 1948.
However, the Continental would not go down for good. It was later resuscitated through the Mark II model. By 1955, the Mark II could be purchased for a stunning $ 10,000, as much as a Rolls Royce cost those days.
Later designs, such as the Town Car and the bulky Navigator, aided Lincoln in becoming the best sold luxury car brand in the US by 1998. After a brief change of ownership between 1998 and 2002 when Lincoln belonged to the Premier Automotive Group, the company returned on Ford premises where it can still be found today.
Despite its tradition as a luxury car manufacturer and presidential limousine supplier, the company has experienced a severe setback in the last few years, having lost against Asian and European imports. This is mostly due to the lack of new models, issue that Ford hopes to solve by reinventing the brand. Lincoln's ascension is still unspooling through the release of models such the MKZ and MKX.

My NEW MOM Mobile
I am absolutely thrilled with my "new to me" TRUCK. I wanted to get rid of my MOM mobile safari van. I wanted a "TOY that was functional" NO van and Not gray. Was leaning toward a HUMMER and decided it would not be functional for our family. We need to HAUL our toys in the back of a truck; 4-wheeler, kayak, motorcycle plus tow a trailer at times. I get alot of compliments on my truck and people think it is brand new it is a 2006. No buyers remorse here and so far it gets 17.3-18.2 MPG not to bad!! FUN to drive. LOVE IT!!! PS. My Husband and son had to modify the muffler to add "rumble" it was to quiet for them. I have to admit I enjoy the rumble also. Thanks Honey and my son!!

Excellent Truck
This has been one of the best trucks i've owned! I had a Ford F-150 Lariat previously and this truck blows it away. The exterior looks great along with the interior, the interior could be better quality in spots but overall it's pretty good. I put a lot of miles on it each year and only had one problem with one of the back up sensors, but Ford's great warrenty (50,000 bumper to bumper warrenty) backed me up and I didn't pay a penny. The gas mileage isn't bad for such a large truck I avg. about 14-15 in the city and 18-20 on the highway. This is a great truck and would recommend it to anybody. I'd by another one any day! Lincoln should have never stopped making this car, maybe they will again

Ford Can Provide Warranty Parts
At 25K, fuel injector failed destroying catalytic converter. Truck has been in shop 4 weeks. Converter on order for over 3 weeks & just slipped delivery another 1 1/2 weeks. Ford replacement Catalytic Converters are not readily available. If I used a Ford truck for a living I would be in serious trouble. Dealership is not the problem as Ford cannot provide part required for repairs. Dealer has been in contact with Ford w/no results. Extended warranty would not have helped. Will this be the last injector failure???

MARK LT
The best vehicle I have ever owned! It is a real "head turner". Pretty truck inside and out. Could easily be used to attend a black tie affair. The only drawback is fuel economy so I still spend a lot of time in my work truck.

2006 Lincoln Mark LT
"Best Truck Ever Owned !"
I purchased the LT from the original owner. He is 91. His wife drove it and she passed away 2 years ago. He decided to finally let the truck go. I'm 61 and I have always been a sports car guy and this is only my 3rd truck. I LOVE this truck ! Decent gas mileage with a huge gas tank. Plenty of power and will smoke the tires if you get on it too much. It's more comfortable than the Eldorado I use to own with more legroom and headroom. The styling is the best I've ever seen on a truck. I couldn't be happier. It looks and drives like new.

2007 Lincoln Mark LT
"2007 Lincoln Mark LT- Gorgeous and Reliable-"
I had to replace my 1998 F-150 that had 189KMI. Looked at the various F-150 variants then I looked at the Mark LT. It has a very refined look with the toughness of the F-150. The seats seemed more comfortable and interior trim refined. Love the super crew 4 doors. All kinds of room.
After 75KMI the exterior looks perfect with the exception of the chrome wheels are starting to peel. Interior looks perfect especially the leather.
Gas mileage averages around 17.5 MPG. My 98 only averaged 15 with a smaller V8 and only a supercab.
Too bad Ford only builds for Mexico.....Bring this truck back to the US.
