Does the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer have a timing belt or chain?

The 2014 mitsubishi lancer does not have a timing belt, it instead has a much more durable timing chain. the timing chain is sealed inside of the engine which allows it to be lubricated with the internal oil. normally the only time you would need to service the chain is if you are experiencing trouble starting, mis fires or sluggish acceleration. sometimes the timing chain gasket fails and oil will leak from the cover. the timing chain connects the crankshaft to the camshaft and sync-hronizes the timing of the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. when the sync-hronization is off the valves will open prematurely or close later than needed, not allowing the fuel to be properly combusted in the cylinders.
